airstones

wut kind of airstones do you get to resist clogging? I bought some of the medium air stones from the hydro store they clogged. I've used bubble bars that clogs and air stone strips that clogged and am going to try an air disk next. wut works? what doesnt?

You do have to clean airstones from time to time and since they are so cheap I replace them often. If they are clogging real fast it suggests an issue with the water more than with the stone.

heya, yeah well the cyllindrical air stones lasted longer than the others. I am going to pick up 2 new airstones tomorrow because I have 2 that seem clogged right now. one of those 2 might actually be an output problem with the friggin air pump, and I might need to return it

I use some organics which probably clog it a lil faster than straight salts would.

You just have to clean them no mater what one u pick...wallmart 1.12 for 2

oh what do you clean them with? bleach solution?

I prefer the stones that are like a flat bar and 10 or 12 inches long. I clean mine with just high pressure water. If it gets too hard to get a good bubble pattern I replace tem.

try bubble curtains also known as bubble wands i found some at my aqaurium store but look online if you have no luck

I use the 10 and 12 inch bar stones for aquariums, and it is easier to replace them than to clean them. Soaking them in Vinegar is good to clean them, or CLR, Calcium, Lime, Rust remover works great too.

i hear AIR DISFUSSER Tubes work forever, if you can find them.

i think the diffuser tube is the same as the curtain i would definitely get those if you are having problems i used them in my piranha tank for awhile

I prefer the bubble wands, they fizz as opposed to blow bubbles.
Also it's suggested that you soak ANY airstones in water for a couple hours before using them. I did not know this but it made a huge difference on the solid airstones.

ok, thanks for the input guys! I will definitely pick up a few diffusers as well as some pH calibrationsolution at the hydro shoppe tomorrow.
