Alexa enabled weed watering drip system

I set up my MAC plants with an automated drip system using floraflex lids for better distribution. I dont use a timing system so to water my plants I connected the power to my home's alexa enabled outlets so instead of hand watering I use voice commands to turn on and off the watering. This allows me to be hands free and distributes an even amount of water over the entire garden. I plan on using more smart devices in future room setups.

This is week 3 of my very first grow. I am using a 5x5 tent with an 8 inch exhaust fan that expels outside of my garage via a 4in hole I cut. 6in fan with hepa filter for my intake and 2 Mars-hydro sp250 for lights.

That 4 inch is a mighty big restriction. If the system doesn't maintain temps thats the first thing to change. you can get larger vents that same style.

It's working like a charm. My temps and RH stay where I set them. I data log and it stays consistent throughout the week.

I hope you are somewhere legal and safe, because between alexa(amazon), instagram(facebook ), and Youtube (google), you've given all of your information about your grow to the 3 biggest data thieves/stalkers on the planet.

Wait until one of your Wi-Fi plugs turn on your lights or water pump out of nowhere. Happened to me and a couple people I know

As much as I love technology I prefer to keep my grow automation simple and old school.

I wasn't meaning to shit on your set-up. Technically it's pretty cool, though I'm a K.I.S.S. style grower myself.

I just detest all the scumbag thieves who attempt to spy on and monitor our entire lives with all this surveillance equipment disguised as handy improvements to your home. I'm also amazed at how so many folks voluntarily give up their privacy and security for unnecessary gadgets and I fear where the slippery slope bottoms out.

(Also, cops aren't your only concern. Some scumbag looking to get high might be watching your grow along with you, waiting for the best time to bust in and rip you off. Be careful, brother.)

No offense taken. But here's where I'm at. I believe "they" are already watching when and where they want and I live a boring 9 to 5 life with a stay home wife and kid. So if they want to spy, so be it. I dont advertise where I live, besides my state, so to the rippers and jackers there going to have to be technically savvy to pinpoint my exact grow location and if they achieve that well then hey congratulations on 6 shitty first grow plants lol. But I hear what your saying. I actually fear the rippers more then the cops and Gov. I do live in a somewhat small town in a good neighborhood where neighbors look out over odd things. My house is laced with surveillance that takes a picture of anyone who steps on my property and my wife and I are both prepared to protect ourselves with lethal action.

But all in all it's just a small hobby grow like the guy down the block brewing a small batch of craft beer and the kids nowadays can just go to the store and buy a dime bag from the state licensed rec shop.

I made the video for shits and giggles cause I'm a nerd but in all practicality I don't leave this plugged in for fear of false activation, as someone else mentioned, but rather when I make my food after personally bringing in my buckets of water I plug it in and use my phone to turn off and on while I time or monitor how much water I need. It distributes the water to all of my garden with relative ease and when I'm done I just un plug it.

FYI here in Canada where its fully legal to buy it in a store $5 cnd a gram thats $3.50 us and its even legal to grow four plants, but plants are being stolen out of their owners yards and one person was stabbed when he confronted the thieves. So if you think that can't happen in America you are half right because odds are you would be shot rather then stabbed.

Unfortunately here in Canada and in the States medical growers even small ones are known to the local rippers who use the dark web to buy lists of medical growers. It only takes one greedy clerk with the police or hospital who can access the medical cannabis information including home address to sell it for profit or to pay a debt.

By that logic anyone with a medical card is at risk lol. Plenty of you tubers and instagrammers are doing just fine and haven't been jacked yet for placing content online. And as I said if someone is savvy enough to pull that off then congratulations on risking your life and freedom for 6 plants lol gtfoh with that paranoid bullshit. I live 2 blocks up from the police station and have already talked to them, they couldn't care less, and no dark web internet fuck boi is going to take the time and effort to pull off a 6 plant "heist" tell you what you should be careful posting on RUI cause those rippers might be trying to get your IP address. Cheers mate hate to tell ya but just because you don't like what can happen does not mean it won't happen.

FYI yes every medical grower especially with permits for large numbers are at risk.


My bet is your not going to like the fact that two hell Angels gang members were caught with cell phone jammers, guns and a list of addresses that had large medical cannabis grows.

Nice little setup man. Surprised how many people want you to think your going to get ripped off. The world is crazy anything can happen anytime sure. Enjoy the small things in life , including your 6 plants that no one cares to rob.
