All hope is gone...all haze hermied

Hi People.
I just thought I share my story as it may be good warning sign for others.

I ordered mr Nice Super Silver haze to find best mother. It was supposed to be properly done reserch and observation.Making notes etc. from the moment they sprouted.

From 33 seeds 17 was males and rest hermied apart from one. Today i realized that only one doesn't seem to have bananas
What should I do?
Let it finish flower (4th week in flower right now at least 6 weeks to go)and make mother of her clone?
Or scrap it and try getting clones from someone else and make mother from clone I'll get?

It was my first time trying to get good mother plant: heartbreaking , waste of money and time. I don't know if I should ever attempt another try.
I Really appreciate your advice

I grow lots of plants from seeds. The one that doesn’t have bananas if you can separate her from the others do it. I believe very rarely is a hermie truly caused from pure genetics. Light leaks or light schedule fluctuations in flower are the main culprits. especially when I use feminized seeds I let them veg a little longer or take cuttings and flower the cuttings, since a cutting keeps the same age as the mother plant from seed it will be much older than its size, and the older a plant gets I find the less chance of a hermie. But if a mom plant throws bananas a clone cut from her will also throw bananas or will be much more likely to under any stress

I also haven’t had a hermie in a very long time making sure not to flower your seeds too early will help avoid them, clones rarely hermie (but they still can) but not nearly at the rate of seeds put into flower early especially feminized seeds

I was thinking just to chop the ones with bananas and throw them away.but leaving one plant 50 cm in diameter in a big tent seem a waste.Maby i should get clones from someone else and give it a go.
My light timers are working ok and there is never lights on in this basement and there is diy light trap on the vent.I stress them by topping, fimming and lst.

I took clones of all 33 before flower and I still have it nicely rooted. I chopped all males and didn't think about pollen.
toss your other clones from the hermied ones and separate the clones you took from the

IMO separate the one that hasn’t thrown bananas but inspect every calyx just to make sure there are no bananas emerging. Even if she is free of male pollen sacks you will still have to continually check her, bananas can emerge in less than a day and with what happened to all the others she obviously is from a more hermie prone strain. All the clones you have taken you should probably toss except for the cuts from your remaining non hermie. As for the flowering plants that have already hermied since they seem about halfway through flower why not just let them do their thing and take the seeds out after harvest, make hash ,rosin, or butter. Or pick the seeds out and smoke what you can from it.

If you want to shortcut some of the bullshit trying to find a winner you can try to obtain "breeders cuts" or "forum cuts". Someone has already done the hard work of finding the winner. Even then, I like to get several candidates because to truly check all the boxes you need a plant that suits your style of growing. When you get one plant that checks all the boxes then you can have the quality and the yield.

When I moved to Colorado and started a medical grow I had zero genetics and wanted to find a mother plant ASAP. I ended up gathering up over 30 different cuts from various sources and out of all of those I only found one true winner and it was one I picked up just because they had it, I was buying anything I could get lol. Clone banks mostly. Of course everything has to be dipped and quarantined for a minute and all that jazz but if I had to try and shoot 30 packs of 10 it would have been a LOT more work. A lot of great weed but only one plant truly exploded with yield and resinous quality. That was a Kandy Kush cut. But anyways, in my experience it was always that one seed pack or strain that you picked up as an afterthought or maybe it was a freebie. Had that happen back in the day when I did order a bunch of packs and shotgunned them all to find a winner. One pack of beans I picked up just because the description checked all the boxes, pics were from early flower and not impressive. That was a Shiva pack. All the other packs I ordered were good weed but damn that shiva was amazing and it yielded like a beast, perfectly suited to my SoG setup.

Never give up trying to find that bad ass mother. Always be diligent looking for and culling plants that wanna make nanners. I toss more than I keep sometimes, don't wanna waste time on something that doesn't check all the boxes so I cull hard.

And if you're growing multiple strains, keep detailed notes and markers to differentiate plants. I eventually just numbered my planters with a sharpie.
