Almost @ One Week Mark! Help / Advice Needed Please!

Hey guys,
I am approaching the one week mark for my Sensi NL and Skunk #1 Auto grow. I put six seeds in the soil last Friday and then two on last Saturday, most of the seeds were up by Monday. So tomorrow will be my one week mark from germination or 5 day mark from coming up. All but one NL came up, I uncovered it gently today, and I do not think it is going to make it up, the taproot is pretty yellow and only about an inch long. Debating on germinating another Skunk #1 to take its place, but I am not sure if my 600w light will be enough for 8 plants in 5 gallon buckets. I have a few questions / concerns that I would like to check in with you guys for some advice, since this is my first indoor grow and I am honestly surprised by how much different things are than my average green house grow.

1) Okay my area is 5'x4' that is pretty much all lined with mylar. I am using a 600W MH/HPS, that is air cooled. Temps are around 72-79, is this okay? Runoff was measured to be around 6.3pH and I have only been giving my plants pH'd water in the mid to high 6 range. I did have a slight over watering problem at the beginning of this week, but pretty much everyone has perked back up since the soil has began to dry out. Here are a few pics of my area, you can not see it, but there are two fans next to where I am standing to circulate air. It seems like the plants on both ends of the room are not receiving as much light as the four directly under the light obviously, is this going to be a problem down the road once they are larger? Do you guys think I will be able to harvest 8 plants and not decrease my yield, if I otherwise had 6? Should I replant a Skunk #1 or just roll with the seven I have? Any suggestions or comments as to tweaks I can make to my area that will help increase yield and efficiency?

2) Next, I wanted you guys to look at a picture of one of my NL's. She seems to have some yellowing just where the veins are on her first REAL set of leaves, she just seems a lighter green that my other girls and was wondering if this is a problem or if I am just being overcritical? If it does appear to be a problem, what would it be? The only thing I see that looks possible would be Zinc, but I do not think that would happen this early... Please let me know what you guys think about this little girl.

3) Here are some pics of the rest of the babies, how do they look for being 5 days from sprout? They are currently under 18/6 600W MH, and I have been slowly lowering the light the past few days trying not to burn the little ones.

4) And my last few questions... I have not watered my girls since Monday, and the pots still seem to be pretty damn wet, they are beginning to dry but they are still moist, I have about 15 or so 1/2" drain holes in the buckets. Before germination, I soaked the soil until I had runoff from my drain holes. Is this pretty normal?
Also, I am wanting to start adding some root development nutes sometime soon, namely, General Organics BioRoot, when would be the earliest I could start feeding them these nutes at 1/4 strenth, (NPK is 1-1-1), seems to be fairly light anyways, and will probably add a small amount of CaMg+. For the next time I water, would it be too early to add a drop or so of SuperThrive per gallon of water, and when I do water them the next time, should I soak the soil until I get runoff, or just get the soil pretty nice and wet?

I have some Big Bloom, Grow Big, and Tiger Bloom on the way right now, along with Open Seasme, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha Ching. Will probably begin Big Bloom / Grow Big around the 2nd weak at 1/4 strength as well. I will also be purchasing AN's Big Bud, Bud Candy, and probably Final Phase for flushing. Does this sound okay to you guys? Anything else I should look into nutrient wise? Does anyone know how well AN does mixed with the Fox Farm base nutes and supplements?

Sorry for being such a long post, but I have been slacking lately and wanted to give a good update, and get some much needed feedback, to make sure I am heading in the right direction and make the best out of this first indoor round. If anyone can help answer some or all of these questions, I would be most appreciative and I will definitely give some +REP to those who lend a helping hand. I know we have some auto-pros on here, so I would really like some feedback from you guys too, if you have a few extra minutes at some point in your day (Yes, I am looking at you JD and Tek) lol. Anyways, thanks very much for taking your time to read this long ass post, and any and all help is greatly appreciated! More updates to come guys!

You guys goptta stop taking pictures with your HID's on.... Yeah it makes em look cool or w/e but we can see the leaf properly to tell you how good she is doing. Like right now by the looks they looks like they are glowing green, plants dont glow green like that and we can see any leave issues regarding it. They look fine from i can tell they are standing up no problem..

If its not dry dont apply, marijuana needs very little water to live. When you put them in the huge containers like that and its not dry enough in the room to get rid of some of that moisture you wont have to water very often until they get ALOT bigger.

I soaked the soil until I had runoff from my drain holes. Is this pretty normal?
You want to water till you see about 10% runoff

the taproot is pretty yellow and only about an inch long.
Why would you even expose the tap root to see how long it is? Dont do that man..

but I am not sure if my 600w light will be enough for 8 plants in 5 gallon buckets.
yes it is, ideally you want each plant to get at least 8k lumens each. Should be more then enough in the 600w for the 8 plants.

Do you guys think I will be able to harvest 8 plants and not decrease my yield
Its impossible to tell what your yield is even going to be so that question is pretty much moot bud.

You need to stick to basic base nutes for this grow your trying to do WAY too much for knowledge of growing man your gonna have a lot of problems. Stop getting all the crap you think is gonna help you out and keep it simple for now..

Honestly mate nobody prob gave any info till now cause they didnt want to get on a sinking ship. Not trying to make it sound like friend but you really need to leave all those nutes alone and just to bas nutes for this grow and maybe the next. I posted alot of videos for you to watch which would of answered a lot of your questions. You need to watch those videos a few times and do massive amounts of research.

You know what happens when somebody gets to big for their britches too fast dont ya? They fall down, you can either go face first or let Tek and I catch your fall. But thats only happen if you take our advice.

3 options...

  1. Add another light
  2. Rotate the plants
  3. layout.jpg you can bring them in a little closer, but not to much of a difference...

The plants directly under the light are going to grow faster than the others at the far end. If you want an even canopy and if you want the plants to grow at somewhat the same rate, then you'll have to move things around throughout the grow... Just keep your biggest plants on the outside...

I did the same exact crap you did with digging to see if to see if a seed was germinating or not, and I got the same result you did... That seed and that seed only did not make it... You just gotta be patient...

just to add your pots are still heavy because you soaked them
the roots system is tiny like shot glass tiny in the first few waterings just wet the area the seed is in with a mist bottle is what i use
when the pots start to dry up they will return to normal growth

That's very much for the advice guys, I really appreciate it. I have not watered since Monday, i finally took out my moisture meter today and took some readings around the edge of the pots and they are all pretty much pinged put a ten (wet). Seems like my greenhouse pots dried out much faster. The one NL I showed above just seems alot lighter green than the others, i know the metal halide is messing with the colors some, but in comparison to the others, it's definitely a lot lighter than the others. May be fine, not too sure though. I will probably stick with the FF trio and their three powdered concentrates. Maybe add a few feedings of Bud Candy at the end.

They have def perked up and growing better since I haven't been watering lately.

Generally speaking I agree with JD, doniboy and Tek.

Water less: With tiny seedlings in a 5 gallon bucket, the roots are reaching maybe 2-3 inches below the soil. Any water that makes it deeper than 5 inches is going to do very little for your girls.

Re-arrange the plants:The end girls will get less light than the center ones. the best you can do is get them is a cluster instead of a line. you can also cycle them around. (Although this gets difficult as they get bigger.)

Plant an 8th/9th if your really worried about a smaller yield go ahead and germinate another. The worse case is the NL comes back strong and you get to choose which one to keep. 600w is plenty of lumens so I wouldn't worry about that less yields.

Nutes:

you've got
BioRoot - Root booster -1-1-1
CalMag+ - Cal Mag (duh)
Grow Big - Veg Base 6-4-4
Big Bloom - Base nute with kelp
Tiger Bloom - Bloom Base 2-8-4
Open Sesame - Bus Starter 5-45-19
Cha Ching - Late Stage Base 9-50-10
Beastie Bloomz - ripener / Hardener 0-50-30

and you want to add:

Big Bud liquid - Bloom Enhancer 0-1-3
or
Big Bud Powder 0-15-35
and
Bud Candy - Carbs/Sugars

That's a fairly Full line of nutes. if your new to using nutes I'd listen to JD and keep it simple. Maybe stick with Cal Mag+ Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom.

If you want to go for it, I'd skip the Big Bud. it's a waste of $$$. the Liquid is crap and the powder is not necessary. Your already using Open Sesame, Cha Ching and Beastie Bloomz. You've already got plenty of P and K going on. More will just be over kill.

The Bud Candy will help give the plant some Carbs. But unless you have some Mycorrhizae in your root zone. you won't get the full benefit.

Always remember when adding lots of different nutes; "Less is more", "Feed, Feed, Flush", watch you PPM. High PPM can be bad for the girls.

Good Luck I hope this helps.

Whoa, that's an incredible deal. I will definitely have to look into that for my grow after this one, unfortunately I have already ordered most of my fox farm nutes already. Thanks for the link, i will definitely have to check that out? Hopefully, with you. guys help i will be able to make do with what I have purchased.

Tek, what are your thoughts on the NL that us a lighter color than everyone else? I am about to throw up a few more pics of them so you can see them better, she still appears to be growing normally, she's actually the biggest one out of all of them, just don't know if i should be concerned with her or not?

JD,
I exposed the tap root because I had not seen any activity from that NL since I had put her in the ground, while everyone else is on the third set of leaves, so I just wanted to check, and I am pretty sure there is something wrong with her anyways, yellowish looking taproot and less than an 1" long.

The reason I have my HID's on when I do take pics is because my area is not at my house, they are at a distant friends that has no real connection to me. I am able to get down their once a day, and the lights go off at 11:30PM, so I am always there before then, when the lights are off, it is pitch black in there.

I will probably end up sticking with the FF line of nutes and Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha Ching. Might try to add some Bud Candy as well, if it is going to be beneficial.

This instills a lot of confidence in me. I appreciate the honesty though.

P.S. - I posted this exact same message around 9:15 this morning, not sure why it did not post, I have terrible service at work.

a lighter color ? if its all lighter then its ok if its generalized it depends on where it starts
the amnesia from dinafem turns almost yellow about a month in ive had a couple of them do this good bud but scares you at first

Here are the pics of a few of the girls from today, they still seem to be growing, not sure if this is a pretty common rate or not, I have never messed with autos before this. I must say that I am amazed at how different indoor is than it was growing in the green house, there's a ton more work to do inside! My last greenhouse grow was organic, and has been a few years back, so much has changed in those few years. I remember at the time, Dr. GreenThumb's original LowRyder was just released and everyone was talking about it, while it was an awesome idea, and I was very interested, the quality and yields weren't quite there yet, so to come back a few years later and see how much they have improved on the auto's is really incredible, I have seen a lot of autos, that I would not be able to tell the difference between it and a photo if I wasn't told so.

Anyway, here are the pics... If anyone has any suggestions about the NL that appears to be lime green, please weigh in. It is actually the biggest one out of the bunch and aside from being neon green, looks the best. These are just a few of the babies, didn't have much time today..

Here is two pics of the NL that seems to have spent to much time around a radiation zone...
