Alternating nodes??? or genetically retarded????

so i noticed about a week ago that one leaf on the node began growing alot quicker than the other and this was the result.

is seeing one leaf in a leaf set growing faster a sign of nodes begining to alternate?
 
that is just a sign of it reaching maturity nothing els and plant not always balanced sometime a strong branch on one side a puny undernureshed one on the other
