Am I trippin?

I have 2 150 watt hps security lights under almost 5 1/2 ft. My temps are at about 86 but it doesn't feel THAT hot. It feels like 80. The thermometer is a pos from the 99 cent store. When I put my hand at the height of the plant I don't feel any discomfort. I have a 70 cfm panaflo computer fan pulling air out of my area. Total volume of the grow area is 34 cubic feet. My intake is passive and is 3inches high X 20inches long.

If it's not the POS thermometer and it really is What do you suggest I do?

Cool tube(s)?
Add another (different)fan?
Just use one of the lights?


Any help is much appreciated.

More airflow. 150W should not get hot enough for cooltubes to be cost effective. Just get more air out of the grow area and you will be in good shape.
