Hi -

Yes no problem - both were purchased from ebay, but you can get the aquarium pump from Wilkinsons (£4.99) Check the links:

eBay.co.uk: 5LT BLACK OR WHITE BUCKET & RESEALABLE LID X 2 (item 160082695411 end time 06-Jun-07 14:31:02 BST)

eBay.co.uk: AIR STONE 3" RING FOR AQUARIUM FISH TANK (item 330104061206 end time 07-Apr-07 20:59:27 BST)

(You can just use a airstone for an aqaurium basically I just thought the ring type airstone would be perfect for even root oxygenization...)

If yo have no luck with the above the following shops are good for bit & bobs:

B&Q: General Electric Fluros & other lighting
Homebase: Fluroescents (CFL's & tubes) pots etc
Wilkinsons: Airstones, tubing & pumps

Petshops: pumps, airstones
Hardware Store: all of the above!
Fishing Store: Buckets for making hydro system (5l Bait Bucket)

If you need anymore help just ask...

Hi - The net pots are 5cm they came with one of my units, but since I have used quite a few now, I just ordered 100 from here: (5p each)

Net Pots

The ones in my pic are from GHE but the ones above will be fine

Thanks again ed ,do you have any problems with them as they are rather small? i would have thought bigger ones would be better for the whole grow

Hey Bifta - No probs at all... the root mass is so big coupled with 5l of water, it acts as a 'balllast' (not lighting ballast!) so keeps the plant stable - I can see what you mean - I bigger net pot would be absolutely fine, but I have found the 5cm just right... You can always gaffer a cane to the side of bucket if it needs propping...

Wow great thread I wish you much luck you make hydro look not so daunting:peace:
Haha thanks - it was hard deciding to do a grow in soil or hydro but after much research I opted for Hydro, basically for time purposes & yield.

The hardest thing I have found so far is getting the nutrient balance right, but thanks to Viiday (forum member) I have that to a T now - all the best to you.

Really diggin this thread Ed.
Nice photography.

Love the idea of the 5L bucket.

I think I will make me one of those next week.
I was figuring $'s for the project:
I think I can do a dwc simmilar to this for about 20.00 usd.

I was looking for a good hydro setup to teach some clones to swim..

This bong hit is for you dude...

Happy growing

Looks just like a Homebox (I have 2 of them). Great move getting the grow tent.

Yes the Budbox/Homebox has been a great investment so far, great features & perfect environment for the ladies - I'm sure someone will adapt a camping tent of some sort in the near future to save a few $$$'s! - If anyone does I'd love to see it on this forum...

Nice one Bifta... please post your completed hydro system once completed would love to see how you get on...

The only thing I did forget to mention was getting the hydro clay pebbles (these came with my aquafarm) They didn't supply me with quite enough & I have looked EVERYWHERE for them (B&Q, Homebase, Garden Centres, Hardware Stores) I cannot find them apart from on Ebay, so if you know of a national chain of stores that sell them please let me know!

I'lll keep you posted..

Bifta - I was eating a Pot Noodle last night (classy eh?!) & thought it would make a great net pot for the hydro system if you are worried about the size issue - Ironic that it's called 'Pot Noodle' & even more so that the roots actually look like noodles!... Here is what I knocked up (or should that be chucked up?) ... after my Pot Noodle Curry :spew:

Here are some pics of my No.1 Girl (well she was the first month of veg) then she got all droopy & had spotty leaves etc. I almost binned her she was in that bad a state... So I put her in my home-made hydro set-up & put her by a window for a week & turned the bucket twice a day so she got a good even soak in the sun & she has bounced back incredibly!! - The arrow in the pic shows the height she was before I put her in the hydro bucket. She has also grown the same distance horizontally...

(Blue airstone on end of pump works great)

Thats fantastic ed and the pot noodle seems like it may actually work,as for the clay pebbles i was looking for some on the net and found a grow shop that was quite cheap and then realised it was very near me and i didn't even know they existed ,so i will be popping down to get the pots and pebbles
