AMBER TRICHOME PRODUCING STRAINS

Looking to produce a list of strains that turn true amber. Last few strains i've grown only produced a few amber trichomes which are few and far between. Usually what I find is trich's go from....
CLEAR=>CLOUDY=>BLACK (IF LEFT LONG ENOUGH) :-|
Seen quite a few comments on here about people experiencing the same....conclusions along the lines of true amber strains being bred out in favour of high THC strains.

Soo any amber fans with known true amber strains please list:blsmoke:
Looking forward to trying them :bigjoint:

If it's cbn your after you can make canna butter in a croc pot and let it go too long. The thc converts into cbn, the same compound found in your amber trichs.
Interesting, i'll look into that, thanks . Still would rather find some strains known to fully turn amber to enjoy smoking. Only managed to get some fully ripened amber bud a few times and personally prefer it to anything else but seems to be non existent in all the strains i've grown :wall:

I've let plants go too long while waiting for amber trics and now I chop em when they are mostly cloudy with a little clear.
Yep....almost wasted a plant or 2 myself waiting for amber. Even tried some landrace strains and left them to go all the way 18+ wks if i remember right....talk about a test in patience :o but daaamn still no dice!!:lol: Nice smoke though and good growing experience

Each mistake is a learning opportunity.
Regret is a bitch and it's easier to just figure out what happened then move on. :peace:

There's a lot of strains now days that do not amber. I would look to indicas for a better chance of finding amber trichs.

One of the latest I grew was Dutch passions- Hindu Kush, left to flower for a long period....still no dice. Usual few amber trich's here n there but not what I expected. It's funny a lot of info on riu when they talk about harvesting times usually say harvest about 10% amber or whatever....but im lucky if ive seen 2% amber on any of my grows or anyone elses grows i've seen, it almost seems non existent :???::???::confused: Maybe a bad choice of strains for what im looking for, who knows but yeah like you say seems to be quite common with strains these dayz

You know..... Trichs will amber during the cure too. I cured some bruce banner for about 18 months and most trichs were amber after that time. That's an option for you too, but you won't see results for some time..... You could pick out a couple reputable breeders, find some strains you like from them. Then email them and ask if those will get amber trichs.... That might be your best bet at finding what you're looking for.

Very interesting read.... I had a 2 year sabatical from growing and just came back about 8 months ago. I have had some serious issues with my plants not "finishing". Around the time I expect them to be ready, calyxes have swollen, hairs have receded, things look great, pull out the scope and no amber... none.. My last 3 batches have all gone 12+ weeks waiting on ambers. I have been fiddling with phosphorus and potassium levels, adjusting light schedules, etc. etc. trying to find out the cause...

Both my lvtk and black dogs showed plenty of amber trichs when I harvested at 56-60 days. Never really experienced a plant not ambering up.
Good to know .....amber trichs all over? or just some closest to lights? Just some folks I know that claimed plenty amber where still pretty poor and only top buds. Most folks are itching to crop and at sight of a few amber jump the gun and cropy crop crop crop :lol::lol:

Get a reptile lamp with UV and you'll get ambers in no time. Only put it on for a short
Amount of time a day
Thanks for input  Unfortunately more or less already there....using t5's at the mo'. 6 tubes- 4 4000k, 1 blue plus(iquatics) & 1 6500k. Also experimented in past with 14000k tubes but plant never responded too well- bit heavy in the uv, looked like they were shouting for sunscreen :lol::lol:

I got sunburn after 3 minutes under my reptile lamp when I experimented with that. I actually did end up wearing sunscreen haha

Id say the amber was in 5-10% range on top and some of the lowers I checked.

My cookies and chem girl never really showed much amber though.

Also I guess some of the amber could be from handling the buds/plants when watering etc... I'm currently waiting for a lvtk x tangerine power to show any amber, around day 50-55 of flower, maybe closer to 60 days, still no amber. Plenty of cloudy/milky.
