In aquariums, yes, lots. You can also get yourself sodium thiosulfate in dry form, save lots of $$ and it's the active ingredient in Amquel.

I dig that bike, what is it? I can't quite make it out... hold on, lemme grab my magnifying glass... What is it? It's beautiful.

I would not use that product in your hydro water. Many aquarium products have some form of sodium in them, and any kind of sodium kills plants. Maybe the stuff dissipates quickly, but why risk it?

The sodium will have a worse effect than the chloramines.

I think that is what i remember hearing a while ago, about the chloramine removers, that it builds up a lot of salt, but like i said its the only stuff i can get a hold of right now. is there any way to remove the sodium that will build up, and what about sodium thiosulfate alot of people say that it will work, but it has sodium in it as well, right? the guy at the hydro store told me the doulble filter they have over is the only thing they have there and it will remove everything but it is a hundred bucks, so I will postpone the grow and till i am better prepared.

unless anyone could suggest a cheap alternative method to use city tap water for my ebb and flood set up.

So, you're saying that sodium thiosulfate adds to the sodium content of water, potroast? If this is true, why are aquarists not concerned with it?
