Another Ph Question

So, say someone was using ffof with a table spoon of lime per gallon of dirt... Would there be any cause to test the ph of the soil or the run off?

What I mean is as long as you're using decent soil and phing your water to get it more accurate would you even need to ph anything else?

Also what is the goal ph for watering?

I've done a successful grow without phing anything, just wanna dial things in on my next.

i also use FFOF and i ph my water to 6.2-6.5, i have heard that is a good range. some even say 6-7, but i like to keep my range a lil tighter.

I would always check after adding another mineral to soil...FFOF is PH balanced from the manufacturer so adding Lime may throw off your PH (probably not by much) but hey wouldn't you rather take the 10 minutes to test the run off water than have a bunch of beans die?

If you use a good soil batch, add some dolomite lime, use organic fertilizers and you tap water is between 5.5 - 8 pH you should be more than fine without doing any pHing.
There's something in a soil called a buffer. It really works. (works better when there's more soil than roots)

If you use chem. fertilizers pH your watering solution to 5.8-7 and you'll be just fine.
People go WAY too far about the pH in soil.

ive always ben told to ph my water wit nutes at about 7.4-7.5 so my run off will be about 6.9.-7.0...its working well for me and my plants. idk jus my two cents...:blsmoke:

The optimal pH level for the soil to grow marijuana is 6.2-6.5.
Considering most fertilizers are acid they will lower the pH as the concentration builds up.
If your using a soil-less medium which is somewhat inhert or you got the natural buffer fucked up you usually want to pH your water to 6.8 so between watering you'll be in the green zone most of the time.
If you really want to manage your pH nothing but pretty darn annoying mathematic equations and a good knowledge in soil sience or a proper soil pH meter.

With all that said, if you don't pass around 1.5mS of EC per watering the soil should buffer the pH pretty well from a 7 pH solution, which is what you'll probably get if your tap is around 7.4.
My tap is 7.8 and I don't need to pH unless I agressively feed my plants and want them sucking up the nutrients as soon as I water them.
When I do pH (usually only for my coco plants) I go to around 6.2.
If I pH my soil plants solution I pH to around 6.2 as well so when I water with ~7.2pH next time it would balance out.
Trust me, you can grow a healthy plant with nothing but a mix of 1 part good compost, 1 part premixed soil and 1 part perlite. Mixing in some slow release nutrients might smoothen the grow up. Water with tap water and occasionally with some added molasses and you'll get grade A+ herb. Maybe not tons of it but not as little as you would if you fuck up things. Thats where people start and build up, not with all that hydro shops crap.
