any advice

hey,

im new to growing and i planted a seed about 3 weeks ago, didnt germ the seed. i wasnt expecting it to grow but it did and i was wondering if you guys can give me some tips on how i can keep it alive and such.

It appears healthy!

Pull the weeds around it away about two feet and after it gets bigger, and leaving a small area next to the stalk bare, place a thick blanket of mulch(grass clippings and/or leaves) around it to help moderate soil temperatures and moisture.

Read up on fertilizers and get some.

use a tiny stake and stake it up untill its bigger and stronger something as small as a shishkabob skewer will work for a week or two. otherwise it wont take much to knock your seedling down. take some preventitive measures against critters-slugs,rabbits,deer,and such.
 
thanks for the advice, im gonna pick up some mulch tomorrow, for the stake can i use a twig or small stick, i have a shishkabob skewer but its metal, would this affect the plant any way?
 
no metal is fine. tie it very delicate. and a little loose, using something other than a twist tie like twine or even string for a plant so small. its getting nice it will grow 3 inches a day in june. good luck.
 
just let it get enough light and she should be good! nutrients are mixed with the rain, and the rain obviously waters her so shes good!
