Any benefit of drying the entire plant whole?

I'm working on my harvesting and curing techniques. Is there any difference or benefit from taking the entire plant, root ball and all, and hanging it upside down to dry versus cutting off the buds and hanging them by their stems to dry? Cutting the stems is the method I've used previously, and I may have let them get too dry because its a bit of a harsh smoke. I didn't know if more crystals would form from having the fluids in the roots and the main stem left connected to the buds? This makes sense to me, but I'm by no means experienced so if someone who is could share their experiences that would be great.

No reason to include the roots. Hanging trimmed plant whole increases drying time and, in my experiences, results in better coloring of cured buds . . . ie:same strain dries green when removed from main plant and then dried . . . nice, golden brown when dried on the plant. I'm not sure why this is, but it be happening here.

No, there's no magic sap running up thru the stalks.

Hanging the whole root ball doesn't get you anywhere... it take longer to dry because of the moisture in the root area (over drying the weed)...plus its a fucking mess.. hang the branches after flushing for a few days.. then when the stems just snap, cure in jars filled 3/4 full.. Everyday open the jars a couple of times and move weed around and get new air in... That'll help that harshness.... Luck

that's pretty much what I've been doing, but I think some heat and root rot got to my last harvest before it was really done, which is why it is a little dry and a little harsh. A lot of the leaves turned yellow and dried up, and the buds didn't quite fill out like I think they could have. I guess I'll leave the roots off for drying I guess, but it seemed to me like it was four or five days before the stems made any crackling noises when I twisted them, and by that time it seemed the buds were too dry.

You could try reconstituting the overdried buds by putting a little fresh material in the jar then, assuming the od'd weed absorbed the moisture , re-cure it.

I had a big ass jar of bud that I was curing, I decieded to put it in Garage fridge, I thought i had it set to LOW well it was to Bone ass cold and in 3 hrs my buds dried completely out. I took them out of there added 3 apple slices to the jar and 2-3 hrs later they where fine. Had to cure them, but here I am 2 weeks later and buds are not harsh and when I burp jar and check for freshness everything is good.

Proper humidity control during your hang will help avoid those "fluff" buds.. plus proper curing.. reintroduction of moisture is an easy task....

what exactly is proper humidity during hanging, and what are some ways you achieve that yet keep stealth? I'm going to have a nice crop in october and I don't want to screw it all up by drying and/or curing wrong.
