Any idea what kind of weed?

I'm doing my first grow and it's coming along really well. I'm at 2 weeks now and the plant is 5 1/2 inches tall. I've been looking at pictures of plants and they seem short and very leafy. But my plant is mostly stem with leaves only at the top. Like 5 inches of the plant is all stem. I was just wondering why my plant is growing so much taller than the pictures I've seen and not so leafy. Thanks. =]

wrong.
i'd say throw the plants out. Start again and use at the very least fluorescents, preferably HID.

and do extensive research, knowledge is power.

yup. you need cfls at minimum, I would defintely recommend HPS.
an initial investment of around $50-$100 for a good grow with CFL or $300 for infinitely better HID.

I know I'm new to this and everything, but I don't see the point in throwing it out. It's just a single plant so wouldn't that light be good enough just for now because it's still young? Obviously, as it gets bigger I'll need to get a bigger light. Idk, I just don't feel like throwing all of my work out the window because of this one mistake. This is frustrating...

i also just found this...
Incandescent Lighting

These lights are also good for starts and seedlings and provide an inexpensive alternative to HID lights, because they do not require a ballast. These lights are only good for individual cannabis plants or small groups of cannabis plants because of their low lumen output and limited range.

It says it's good for individual plants. Wouldn't that be okay then?

where did u find that info? its total bs, incandesents use more wattage than cfls and put out much less light, most of the output of an incan is heat. u need to get some cfls. on the throwing it away part i have a question. how big are the top leaves and how thick is the stem? you do have a fan on right? how about a few pics. then we can tell for sure just how bad it looks.

agreed - you probably don't need to toss it, but you do need a better light for flowering a smokable bud. a CFL is like $3... spend like $20 on some cfls and y splitters.. don't be stingy.

Can't upload pics at the moment. But the stem is pretty thick and sturdy. The leaves are about 2 - 2 1/2 inches. I mean it looks good. I was just wondering why it was so tall. I didn't mean for it to turn into this huge mess saying I should just throw it out. I just asked for a simple answer. Oh well. I guess I'll keep it growing and see what happens. What could it hurt.

and get them closer. lol. cfls should be 1-2 inches away, i assume incan should be about that too. do you have a fan on?bro, get the cfls, incans just arent worth the time. at absolute least replace the bulb you have now with a smaller cfl. a 26w cfl will work better than your 150w incan

Dont throw it out. Just get better lighting. You can always clone off the good parts of the plant if you want to start again. Don't put your incadescent bulb close to the plant as it will burn it fast. And if you keep it far away, the plant doesn't get enough light and will stretch. Just get some cheap cfl's. When buying cfl's, look at the k color. 2700K for flowering and 5000K for vegging.

6500k for veg actually, plants dont absorb very much light in the 4-5k range if i remember correctly, i might be a little off though, lemme see if i cant find out real quick like

you really can't do shit with incandescents. like, at all.
i would PERSONALLY reccomend chucking them as they've been stressed out by the high heat and bad lighting, just pop a few new beans and do it right from the start. it won't take you that much longer.
