Anybody ever try cloning their young “tops”?

These tops are definitely growing bigger. Still can’t see roots poking through the rooter-plugs, but poured out water, and letting them subsist through the moister left in container. Hoping what little roots there may be grow to absorb the water left in plug before they begin to rot.

The only problems I see (as they will root just fine, and I have done the same thing you are doing) are 1) getting them out of that cup without causing damage. And 2) the roots will grow into the other rapid rooters, where they are touching before you see roots coming out anywhere else. When you pull them apart they get kinda pissed.
So if you are seeing growth I would separate them now. The roots are probably there. They are just avoiding the light on the exposed sides of the plugs.

My favorite way to do just a few clones is to cut/dip stick in rapid rooder that was soaked in fulvic/seaweed then squeezed out to moist sponge level of moistness, then stick it inside a quart ziplock, blow some lung air inside, then leave it for 3-4 days, check back and moisten it up, then leave it again. I've cloned every berry plant in my yard doing the same thing, super easy, works great every time. Clones really shoot out roots if you let them get a little dry once in a while.

Thank you. I needed to hear that response as I was debating just that.
Once separated would you recommend continuing with just rooter until more roots, or a “soft” (not “hot”) soil?
I’ve used Mykos generously around the roots if most all seedling/clone transplants I’ve done and never noticed any adverse effects...

They came out quite easily, because I had torn the plugs down to make them shorter, and used the narrower end, and used the torn off pieces on the bottom to hold water.
One obv did not root- it popped out of cube, but is not rotten thankfully.
Leaving them to air out a bit with these seedlings, then into soil, or possibly aerocloner if I decide to take some cuttings today.

My only other thoughts would be that your light is too far from those seedlings. They are stretching too much. And seedlings don't need the humidity dome. I would put the seedlings in 3.5- 4 inch pots and gently cover as much of the stem I could.

Haha- most of those seedlings are tomatoes my gf is starting, though I have a couple rows of canna in there.
Just to note- 5 out of 5 S. African Kwazulu seeds from World of Seeds via Seedsman popped up in TWO days!! -in boiled well-water soaked jiffy cubes in large dome with common seedling heat mat underneath, and a Feit-brand LED spectrumed for vegetating shining (usually) through a thin blue silicone cooking pad (to dull the light, and the heat of the light resting on dome.
But- yes- those stretchers need to be buried up to their “collar”, or moved to greenhouse- maybe both. Going to move Kwazu and the 2/5 Freakshow I popped under the t-5 setup in my hottub-to-winter-hothouse conversion pictured below (have moved lights around a bit, and the T-5s are in the middle. Two led bars are on either side; also I like posting full-size pics because, at least on my phone, it allows me to zoom in, whereas thumbnails when expanded have a terrible pixelation. That's pretty cool! Ditto on the images. I hate waiting for thumbnails to load and the don't work as well.

I tried with my 1st round of indoor.
I failed... didn't really know what was doing, just put them in water, heat mat under tent, and they never rooted :(

FFWD, I now built a DIY clone bucket when I flipped my 1st indoor and took some cuttings, I've had mixed results but managed to clone a few.

I've learned that temp and humidity are quite important. I've got a 2 hash passion in seedling atm, when they are ready for topping, going to attempt to clone them.

Nice! I thought about building one but was lazy and got King Cloner- same basic setup as yours, just square.
I sprouted seeds in it by putting them in rapid rooter plugs in the “nets” and a heat mat underneath to keep the water warm. Kept in greenhouse with supplemental t5 light fir 15hr. “days”. 30minute spray intervals 3 times in 24hr period. Probably the final update unless I share a full growth-diary on these; they look like they’ll all grow just fine now- cloning tops works, just takes weeks!

First pic is of the littlest, which is a top that was already topped (decided to bring it down another node). I never gave up on her and she is actively growing now, next to tomato and pepper starts.
