Hey whats going everybody.
I was wondering How I would start growing bud with clones in my SH system. What I mean is I know how to start growing from a seedling and germ and all that. But I dont know how to get started by using Clones ya know? Like I insert the clones and then cover with the hydroton rocks? Im a newbie grower ya'll. Any help would be cool thanks

yeah man if you get some good clones they should already be rooted and healthy, just put them in the net pots and cover with the hydroton pellets, hook up the system just like w/ seeds and there you go. but clones are nice cause they are already pretty mature i just wait til mine are 12" to put in flower, and the roots will hit water pretty fast. i wont grow from seed again unless i have to man its guaranteed good genetics most importantly FEMALE

and nutrients wise I cant help if you use the SH nutes liquid nutes are a lot easier to deal with and they have a simple feeding table on the side of the bottle. not bashin on their nutes just sayin i dont use em so cant help with that but if u have other questions let me know its pretty straight forward.

Hey whats up dude,

For sure man, I think Im cool with the nutes for now. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt messing anything up when I start growing with clones ya know. Hey 1 more? I put the pellets on the bottom, then the clone in, then cover with more pellets right? or would I put the clone in to the bottom then cover with the pellets?

thanks for the help bro

I dont't know if it is the "right" way, but the way i did it, was put down a small amount of hydroton, then put the clone in and filled to top woth hydraton, only thing I would have done different was that I should have stripped away as much of the rockwool as I could, I ended up with over watering problems at first because the rockwool was staying soaked from the bubbles hitting it. After about a week the roots went crazy, and I havn't had a problem with it since.

wowzerz way is definitely not wrong u can do it either way but i just put the clone right in the net pot and then fill it with the pellets so that the roots can kind of stick out the bottom and that way they grow to the water faster( i havent done it with pellets underneath so i cant really say it DOES i just would figure ya kno)

I used a SH Bubbleponics system when I first started out.

I actually liked it...I always started from clones and turned out a decent end product.

I upgraded the lights almost immediately and replaced their nutes with Fox Farm nutes...I was experiencing allot of nute burn with their supplied nutes.

Fill you net pots about 1/4

Insert your feeder line through the net pot and place your your clone directly on top of the feeder tube and fill the remaining voids in the net pots with more hydrotron.

Another poster said they had issues with over watering...I never had that issue and I have even left the plastic on the rockwool cubes...As long as your air stone is working properly your nute solution will be so oxygenated that you wont have to worry about over watering.

Overall it is a great system that will teach you the basics of active hydroponics.

Enjoy-

Nice for sure. thanks guys + REP for ya'll. sounds easy enough.

Cam, how did you like fox farm nutes? I was thinking of switching over the them also.

Just on this topic guys,

With bubbleponics cloning, can the cutting be placed directly into the rocks (no rockwool etc.) and then into the water to begin the roots?

Most people I see clone into plugs, and then into rocks in net pots.....

Just thought it would be cheaper to put the fresh cutting straight into the rocks...?

Cheers.

Hey Jimmy Whats up,

Im not sure if you can. You can ask around, I was told to put my clones in with the rockwool directly into the rocks covered and everything. I know as the plant gets bigger the rockwool becomes smaller and dissapears alittle. But almost every hydro grow ive seen, has always started in rock wool. It kinda acts like a soil I guess. It can hold water and nutes for the roots, the rocks cant do that ya know?

Just my 2 cents def ask around tho man

I knows.. :hump:
But with a bubbleponics cloning system, I have seen people hang the bottom of the cutting directly into the water.... and then there is your method.

So ultimately, Id be hanging the net pot full of rocks (with the cutting in the middle and also submersed) into the water until the cutting rooted, so in theory the roots would grow through the rocks and into the res and there would be no issues with transplant shock on the roots or unnecessary money spent on plugs....

If somebody can flaw this method, please do:hump:

Whats up,

ohh my bad. I dont really know to much about cloning. I just started my first grow. If people are doing that then Im sure its cool. I did mine with a Stealth Hydroponics grow system. I dont know what exactly is setup with a cloning system tho.
