Anyone else grow "old school" - i.e weaker strains

The main reason I grow is to enjoy old school highs. I smoked UK available stuff for ages - cheese, super skunk etc, then one day realised I was just battered, and not actually enjoying it. It also made me anxious.

So now I have Master Kush, Hindu Kush, Purple Bud, Mandala #1, Blueberry. All of them sativa focussed, and all give a really enjoyable old fashioned high - one where you can function, enjoy music, etc.

Whenever anyone I meet tries any of my handy work, they all say it's the best smoke they've ever had!

The weed arms-race seems to have ignored quality over pure strength. At least here in the UK.

Anyone else feel this way?

"Newer" strains are bred for the biggest yield and the most thc.

I've grown Maui Waui and Acapulco Gold, both good smoke. I've also grown some "high test" like SLH and GSC. I like both.

Personally, depends on the day and the company. Some days I like to chill and work in the garage or developing my property, so I opt for more functional. Some days I want to be derailed and just slip from the realm of reality. Different strokes for different folks.

Yes i prefer more sat based strains but growing for yeild and strength means i aint got time for much but the odd one.

I grow sensi skunk - modern strains are not stronger in any way not fussed what thc cbd etc content is as i can just get high and tell waaay better.

The best highs are not the strongest thats for sure :-)

I trim my sats less as the leaf seems pretty good as well, i say sats but far from real sats more crosses :-)
I’d highly recommend Ace seeds Kali China for a fast finishing sativa dominant high. A true 9 week finisher with crazy mango, incense, creamy smell and taste. All 3 girls I had grew like short hash plants. Is an indica dominant cross but the high is soaring and clear mostly. Giggly weed. Maybe a little trippy, but weed kind of trippy. Great effects for such short flower time.

I think all true sats are long flowering and were more hybrid crosses, i had cali skunk finish in 9 weeks another sat leaning cross from herbies freebies :-)

One of my favorite strains is still good old white widow. I wasn't around way back in the day so I never got to smoke the real old school stuff. I definitely love sativa dominance, c99 is also a favorite of mine. I'm gonna need to try the Kali China I've read a few great reports on it.

I have not been impressed with the handful of "super" high THC strains I've tried. The high doesn't seem well rounded at all. If I want high THC it's easy enough to go take a dab.

I love flower though, and don't see that changing. I would love to get my hands on some more old school genetics, sadly that gets tougher as time goes by. I've grown a couple full sativas and if I had time and space that is all I would grow I think. I would love to collect and grow some real landraces some day too.

Yea, I know right. A lot of the high thc strains are lacking. They don’t bring the magic. Love c99 too. Really love the amnesia. After the experience with Kali China and hearing all the great talk about Dubi at Ace seeds, I’m going to have to run more in the future. Lots of interesting landraces and landrace crosses he has.

Are you familiar with @frenchycannoli he is a "classically trained" hashishan that has been reviving the love of premium hash in the US. I haven't gotten to try his hash or technique yet, but it seems outstanding from the pictures and reports.

No but them old school farmers knew how to make amazing hash. They stored the plants for six months at least then sieved pressed and heated before adding their stamp and probably another long storage before turning up in my town for £15 per 3.5grams.

I aim to make some soon been storing up my small amounts of trim for a few grams, looks simple really :-)

Plenty of hash still coming into the uk, I can assure you. Nothing to do with me, but , I can assure you, there is plenty out there.

Cali China sounds interesting.....
Been round the uk and never had good hash just that horrible contaminated stuff that dosent get you high and probably has some organic chemistry you dont want to know like a toulene attempt at whatever the modern idiot does with that stuff to make it seem realish.

If i could get that stuff id be a main guy in my town so many would buy it but if we ever get it it was just a few oz trip to amsterdam thatsome one makes never in bulk and tenner a gram which is a rippoff.

Idk i get a lot of peeps showing me hash, one burn and smell of tbe smoke and its more likely this horrible uk fake stuff crapola lung killer.

Whats the price? :-)

I grow Old School. I'm focused on landrace strains. Check out some of ACE Seeds strains. Some really good stuff. So many people are all caught up with the latest pollen chucks. Super Tootie Fruity Sour Purple Haze Sherbet Punch Gorilla Chocolate Cotton Candy yuck yuck Yuck or whatever is currently the so called go to strain. Most of that stuff all tastes the same but people will swear they taste notes of cherry, cantaloupe, banana, or smelly socks. I find the current state of cannabis seeds hilarious. $30 for someones pollen chuck of unstable genetics.

Give me a Panama, Durban, Columbian Gold, Pakistani Chitral Kush, etc... any day over all the hyped up nonsense out there. Some guy in another thread even had the nerve to call landrace strains garbage. The garbage is those crosses of crosses crossed with another cross of a cross. and selling for $20 - $30 a seed. I can make my own crosses as good or better than much of the stuff out there and I do.

The cannabis industry is full of hype and marketing. People used to brag about using some ridiculous "Lines" from companies like AN called Connoisseur or expert. Then that fad died down and we were inundated with shills for the LED industry trying to convince anyone that would listen that without a $1000 LED you couldn't grow weed despite decades of successful growers using HID's. We now have anyone and everyone chucking pollen and chasing the gravy train and targeting the naive with ridiculous named strains you need to take out a loan to buy a pack of. Well I don't fall for the hype and they are not getting my money. The cannabis growing industry is mostly just marketing and misinformation.

Lol. It does get aggravating when there is literally thousands of strains out and thousands more to come out within a year or two. It’s hardcore overkill and makes the whole thing seem immature and silly. Quadruple lemon zinger platinum hash fruit pie Kush xxx. I get sick of it. Tootie fruity what? I’m a man. No thanks

Hoping to find a keeper out of my Bodhi crosses of crosses of crosses. Lol. Have heard good things about them. After that, I’m thinking of grabbing some Ace Malawi x PCK and Next Generation Island Sweet Skunk. I don’t see how anyone could not like the Island Sweet. Very interested in malawi x PCK. Have to check if they have it in regs
