I can't get any of the conventional soils people use in the states and Europe. All I have access to is red soil and peat moss. Should I even try it ?
Anyone ever use red soil for growing ?

In the Levant region Lebanon/Syria boarder area. I'm in a small town I can't get anything else.

I’m guessing laterite clay. Miserable stuff. You may want to go soilless such as coco/perlite and do hydro.
I hope I’m not telling you to eat cake.

If you can get hydroponic nutrients “deep water culture” has simple equipment requirements.

the soil here ( in eastern TN. ) is red clay, turns into vicious, viscous, sticky mud. if you try to grow in it, you'd have to add a ton of peat, sand, wheat straw, compost...people do it, there are a lot of folks that have nice gardens in the area, but it takes some work. if you're going to use it in containers, i'd definitely add compost, maybe some perlite, some sand, a little peat....dolomite lime...it's doable, but not easy

Yeah I think it's the same shit you guys talking about. This is what they call red soil and the other they say it's peat moss but it looks more like coco to me.

nice stuff......it can be done but like the others here have mentioned your gonna need to aquire more stuff to help it....and it also depends on how your gonna grow it too....in the ground or in a pot....

I know they use this soil to grow the shitty stuff they grow outdoors here but I got some good seed from the states I'm not trying waste it on mud. Also never seen organic fert that look like fish food. Dude gave me this for free.

Gypsum helps break up clay soil and plants love it as well.

How much should I add like 5% ? I have a bag of gypsum and a bag of vermiculite.

that does indeed look like coco coir to me, maybe they just don't realize there is any difference...and there is a lot of difference, but either would help that soil, which looks very much like the soil here...minus a few dozen rocks of varying size. some coarse builders sand, some perlite, some compost, some lime...you could work with it...

i have no fucking idea what's in that bag, i tried to look it up, found nothing.
the stuff in your hand looks like leaf mould that's started to break down, which would be a good thing to add to a compost pile, if that is what it is.

it might be easier to use the coco he can get that they're calling peat moss and use hempy buckets, a lot more stable than dwc, very little hardware and no pumps required. as long as you have a stable source of coco...
