I have two 8 gallon bubbleponic tubs, two air stones in each, 50% BC nutes, magcal, thrive alive b1, the normal stuff.

I am getting like foam build up was curious if this was the nutes b/c the PH migh not just be right. I have it around 5.5 but using a drop test kit :(.

The digital one will be here soon just what i got for now. If you want pics np go take them now if you need to see more what i am

wow been up this long and no replies well last bumb anyone anything?
I am hving the same problem, which lead me here. I just added G.O. Biothrive @ 1/4 strength and humic acid @ half stength yesterday. The foam is messing up my misting action from bubbles.

Foam is not unusual and is not in itself a problem. Bottomline: if it doesn't smell bad don't worry about it. If it does smell bad then you need to flush and start using h2o2 or perhaps other treatments. Chances are it doesn't smell.

yeah but it stops the breaking bubbles from forming a mist, which is causing my roots at the top of the bucket to dry, but if I raise my water level I'm afraid it's gonna cause my coco to be over watered. I had an experimental seedling die from foam piling up to the bottom of my pot, overwatering the coco.

There is nothing that can be added to get rid of this foam, or to prevent it (aka different nutes)?

I fixed my foam issues. All the rez needed was a good mixing. I just kinda dropped the nutes in yesterday and gave them a quick stir with my ph meter. After mixing the water thoroughly earlier today, and checking back later, all the foam build up was gone. There was a bit of foam, but not the bad frothy build up.

Moochbuds, did you get everything worked out?

Bomb what are you using as far as nutes/vitamins? I had this problem for a long time and I just had to find a simpler solution. The reason I was having it was because I was adding too much Nitrozime and H202. The bottle says to use 5-10ml per liter, but that is WAY too much for a DWC bucket of any kind imho. The simple and easy fix is to clear a new rez with only water and nutes for a few days. You will slowly notice your plants leaves go back up into shape after night cycles because that is usually when the leaves start to reach back up toward light again. The foam was causing bubbles, but they were not the ones that would hit your netpots there were A TON of bubbles, but my roots were not getting enough moisture from the water due to the foam prohibiting them. It was very odd, but fixable. If you use anything like Zime/H202 be careful to notice how much more oxygen is being created. The foam is actually a massive Oxygen rich environment, but it will dry up roots fast.

I guess it sounds a bit off cause it is hard to explain, but the bubbles will actually just start to form together (foam) and the "bubble popping" that the roots love will be hard to find.

I've never seen foam severe enough to impede bubbles. Sounds like a nute thing.

Yes this is the problem I was having. I mixed the water well and the foam went away, but the next day it was back, and is fucking my plants up too. I'm gonna clean everything out and just run water for a few more days, cuz i lost most of my dangling roots because they dried out.

So you think the grow(N) fert needs to be added @ 1/8 at first or something like that?

I got bubbles one time from using naval jelly for ph down, it didn't hurt anything, but it did cause foam

I've had foam with the funky, stinky organic nutrients that I tried first. Since switching to BC (Success Kit) I haven't had any foaming.

What I think happens is an uber chemical reaction with each different chemical you might use in the water. I was having this problem no matter how hard I mixed up the nutes. My only fix was to cut back on each product until I found the right concotion. I don't know much about Thrive Alive, but that may be my first choice to either Leave out entirely or introduce it to my DWC a DROP at a time. What you want to see in the water is water simply bubbling not a big foam mess.
