Apartment NYSERDA Energy Audit

Today I got a few forms from my landlord and there performing a energy audit in the building. Theres about 30 apartments in the building and now im shitting bricks because I have no idea what this entails and I have a glowing wardrobe cabinet in my room with 20 more days left to go.

Has anyone heard of a Energy audit or have any info or advice for me on what this entails??

They will be looking at the overall efficency of the building - insulation levels, windows & doors, heating system and ducts, or radiant lines.
They are trying to save on utility costs.
There is a good chance they will be using an infrared camera to look for heat loss as well.

move your grow box out immediately....if they find it they will call the cops. also they will find out which units are excessively using energy.

Ya obviously have a computer. Well, inside yer computer room, ya also have a few extra servers (ya can use up to 3 of em @ 1500W each fer an excuse, easy, but ya probly arent usin that much power in yer cabinet), Thats justification fer yer energy usage. As fer yer grow, is on you as to whether or not ya try to make it more inconsipuous or toss it.

It doesnt make much since why they care, because I pay the electric and my bill is around $100 a month, nothing excessive. My box is vented out on the side of the a/c unit, so theres no smell. Im on the 3rd floor so it all dissipates.

I dont know what to do. Maybe pull harvest early. Im in at 40 days. The purple girl's hairs are mostly brown already. Im gonna flush tomorrow. And when he comes back for the forms I will clean house. My apartments is slow to do anything so I think I have atleast 10 days before they do anything. Some months he dont even come get the rent tell the 8th or so, when its due the 1st.

Looking at the letters I got I see the date on the top says December 30, 2008. Thats how late they are around here.

They don't give a flying fuck about what's plugged into the walls. They will be looking at insulation around entry doors and windows and anything else the landlord can be saving on the utility bills. Assuming that your apartment doesn't SMELL like you're growing, throw a lock on the cabinet and they might not even go into that room. If your cabinet is in the closet, even better, they won't be interested in where you hide your dirty laundry. Unless it smells like dank weed. Then you might be in for some trouble.

my brother has been doing energy audits for a year now. they will NOT look at your hydro usage, meter, bills, etc. they wont be snooping around in every closet to find things.

- they will look in your attic to check depth of insulation

- basement to see if its finished, type of insulation, windows, etc

- walk around your home to check for soffit vents, type of roof, check under siding if you have it

- seal up your place and do a negative pressure test checking to see where air leakage is coming from

id say your biggest concern is the air pressure testing. if your grow fans are vented outside the powerful fan they use for testing will overpower the fans you have setup. this will draw air in from outside through your grow room through the room and then out into the main rooms and hallway. this fan creates 50mph winds so i doubt any grow op fan will stand up to this.

youd be amazed at how much air can get through a little hairline crack in window caulking so chances are your grow room may emit a LOT of smell.

for an apartment they will likely just be doing negative air pressure testing depending on what type of building you are in.

i just checked your post again and noticed you are growing in a wardrobe. they wont look inside it as they have no reason too just control the smell...

Okay, Im feeling better about this whole ordeal. I havent heard anything yet, and think I will be done with my harvest before they come. Im currently at 42 days 12/12.

I stopped feeding my Dutch Passion purple #1 girl 2 days ago because half the hairs are already brown and crystals galore. I got a 60x pocket microscope but its very hard to use. I can make out the tricomes but its very hard to tell if their cloudy or clear. I will prob give her a few more days a chop her.

My other girl I have in their is a Nirvana wonder woman. She has crystals galore and no brown hairs yet. Leaves are still very green and not dieing and falling off like the Purple. I gave her light nutes 2 days ago and prob stop the feeding for her too. I will try to give her 10 more days. Both strains say they flower in 8 weeks.

Not sure if this will rest your mind but the guy who said that they are checking insulation windows etc. sounds right. if you are there they have no reason to gointo your cabinet. its your property when renting. also in canada most apartment buildings go by floor so your extra power just looks like everyone is usnig a coupple extra watts. plus your grow is not using any real power. By just switching out a med sized home with cfls you can grow for free. theres prob many old people in there using more power cause their apartment is filled with incandescents. Just hide the cabinet somewhere where they have no reason to go. take care of smell. and be with them the whole time. but def if you can move them i would. but i wouldn't move them unless you really trust someone

exactly. its your house. don't be suspicious but don't let them walk all over you. if married have your wife asleep at the time so they have an excuse to be fast and quiet . good luck and actualy keep us posted. but dude watch the smell. you might be used to it. if you smoke then smoke a cigarette while there in the house.

If ya smoke a cig in that house, keep it FAR from yer plants!

its only for this emergency anyways. my sister smokes cigarettes in her room with plants and theres not a noticable difference. although it def doesn't help the plants. this is a situation thats justified i think. but yah its not great for them especially for their smell. he gotts do what hes gotta do. good luck

its hard to say man... i know in the state i live your landlord has to give you explicit notice that they will be entering your apartment 24 hours before unless its an emergency, so by the laws in my state they wouldnt be able to come in your actual apartment unless that note says they will enter your crib. when i lived with my brother for a while we would always get notes around the door whenever they would be doing anything in the building, but they never entered the actual apartment and thats kinda what this sounds like. unless they said they were going to enter your apartment specifically i would just unplug the shit when they are gunna be there and make sure you are there when the come too.
