Are Cool Tubes Made Of Tempered Glass?

I just bought a new 400 hps with cool tube for my grow cab, the problem is the glass cool tube is a good 8 to 10 inches longer than it needs to be and wont fit well in my cab, i was thinking if it wereregular glass i could just cut the tube short but if they are comonly made of tempered glass ill need to buy a nrw hood. has any body had this issue before? any advice would be greatly apriciated

hmm, not sure, cutting the glass sounds pretty scary! I ran into that issue as well. I made it fit by running my ducting in S curve. If its not too late to return the cool tube, u could get away with a bake-a-round DIY job for a 400. There are 19" cool tubes available if thats any closer to the size you need. Lol no not really but you helped more than anybody else! Lol 19 inches sounds perfect, why they felt i would need a 28 inch cool tube for a 400 watt bulb i may never know but the price was right so im not complaining that much. Cutting regular glass is easy, you just score the surface and snap it, it follows your score lines perfectly, but tempered glass will just shatter into a zillion pieces. I have space to fit it as is but with the ventalation fan and hosing its pretty crampt. Ive been reading up on the diy tubes thinking i could just swap out the hardware but if i can keep this one somehow and shorten it i would prefer that
