Are my ladies ready to flip? - PICS - 1000W MH SCROG soil, air cooled tube, 4x4x6 DR1

Hello,

I come to you, asking whether or not it is time to flip to 12 / 12 and HPS. I am running an 18 / 6 cycle, and I am hoping to get a pound from my SCROG (at least). I have been topping, bending, weaving, super-cropping my plants, and have trimmed most of the underneath of the canopy. The link to the album is here (I took a few lights-on shots, and a few immediately after lights-out): http://imgur.com/a/G9Bpt.

What I want to know, is if I flip them now, will I get my pound? These are only 4 plants and this is my first scrog. I know that vegging longer will pay big dividends... but is it time? This is day 66 of vegging from seed now. The tent is only 6 feet high, and I don't know how much higher I will be able to get my light. I do have a 1000W HPS light ready to swap in.

I am currently using a 1000W metal halide bulb on my Lumatek E-Ballast (on super-lumens mode), with B'Cuz soil, using TechnaFlora "recipe for success" ferts. Can't remember who my air-cooled tube is from.

they look ready to flip.....your expected yeild well i cant say...its not impossible thats for sure.

what i will say is if you wat much longer your going to have a verry crowded room, as it is they are getting pretty tight in there and preflower stretch hasnt even happened yet.

i would say go ahead and flip and hope for the best man, your garden looks great so i dont see why you cant come pretty dam close to your expectations

Thanks for the input and the compliment! I think I might wait one more week before I flip it over, just one more fertilizing (since I've noticed that it literally shoots up in growthafter every fert). I feel it's time too though.

I think you're going to end up with the best of problems; too much bud in the flower tent! :)
Like RetiredMatthebrute says, you've yet to have the 2 week stretch yet, so room is going to be tight.
Very nice screen, obviously tended to with tenderness ;)

Lucky to pull one oz./per plant in a small tent like that.
You really burning a 1000W bulb in there?

BigSteve.

Its a 4 foot by 4 foot by 6 foot tall tent, ain't that small :) I am burning a 1000W yes, temps stable at about 75f. I really hope by vegging some more that I will get bigger fuller heads on these 4 scrogged beasts.

These are tonight's photos of my babies after lights-out; a little shiny because of B1 foliar spray I just hit them with. I'm so excited I almost can't contain myself :)

You're going to need friends like these in a couple of months, just to get into the room your tent is in ;)

I'm looking forward to seeing them in full flower!

Here is the most recently update pictures :) I've decided I'm FLIPPING THEM... after mutilating my plants just a little bit more, super-cropped the shit out of them today.... I'm flipping them tomorrow. It's time.

I do believe I'll be taking the humidifier out as well, since I understand that I will want the exact opposite problem when I am flowering.

Hate to toot my own horn... but this is my second grow, my first INDOOR grow, and I went SCROG with 4 plants... I gotta say, not looking bad eh? :) If I get at least a QP I'll be happy, but holy smokes, look at all of the GREEN in there!

I realize that I have way too much ducting but it's my only option for making sure the heat doesn't stay inside of the room.... it heats the rest of my house to some extent :) Carbon filter hanging up top, powered by an external fan pictured in the bottom right. There's my Lumatek ballast on the ground beside it. Second fan is hidden on top of the tent; that draws the heat through the air-cooled tube (I just found out that this is a no-no... I will be PUSHING the air through on my next grow). Two fans in there to make sure I have maximum air flow. I think I've left enough space for vertical growth vs. how far I will be able to raise my light. I open the window to suck cold air from the winter cold outside into the tent to make sure it stays a nice 75 degrees at most times canopy level.

4x4x6... what do you think? What would you do differently?

shit looks good, but i feel like too much of the plant is already through the screen. i feel like the flip is gonna stretch those well above the screen. my 2cents. otherwise they look great

This may be true... but I my way of thinking is that I used the screen to stretch the growth across the 4x4 area. Hopefully the plants can support themselves in flower :) I have to believe!

Not sure if I'm inventing something genius, or if I'm full of crap on this one; has a "multi-tiered" SCROG ever been done? Wonder what would happen if I put another screen on top of this layer of canopy? This is clearly a brain-storm idea and may or may not be a horrible idea.

I've pulled 7 oz of one plant in a 4x4...

Put another scrog o top of a scrog?! lol! Think about what you're saying ;)

Well, I know it sounds crazy in the sense that I don't need to spread my ladies out anymore; but what do you think about doing a double-decker SCROG simply for supporting them at the later stages of flowering? I just found the term "double-decker SCROG" and it's been done before, but I wonder if it would be beneficial for me?

I want to be as scientific about this as possible... if you don't think it would be of any benefit... I probably won't do it. Hell I don't want to because I'm too lazy to cut chicken wire again and re-shape it so it doesn't slice my tent in two, but if it's worth it, perhaps I will!

I'm just nervous as hell about this because, well just look at them, they're healthy as hell and ready to get sticky :) Performance anxiety yes. Being whiny looking for reassurance? yes.

well yeah you fill your screen, i get that.........my point is that at this stage your plants are already above the screen before flower. when you flower those are going to get even bigger. you do have alot pinned under the screen but you dont want your screen of fence or whatever your using to turn into just a vertical support.

Any mods or suggestions you'd make? Or should I just ride it out and hope for the best?

Might camp out inside the tent and play twister trying to hold branches up with all of my available limbs for the next 8 weeks :)

I flipped them. Lights out for a solid 6 hours now, lights back on at 3am, back out at 3pm. I gave the HPS lamp a test run and I was very, very impressde with the light output of the Hortilux bulb that I am using..... now a NEW problem; she runs about 10 degrees hotter than the MH! Pretty much desperate for cooling solutions right now. I am thinking that I might have too much ducting (I KNOW that I have too much ducting), but the whole point of all of it is to vent it into another room so that I'm not recycling hot air and making it hotter. Any suggestions?

Actually this leads me to an important question; I have my thermometer reading the canopy temperature via a wired remote probe that I just have laying there, it's totally exposed to the direct light. If I hide it under a couple of the fan leaves, am I more likely to get an accurate reading? Or is it already the accurate reading being displayed exposed to the direct light.
