Are my seedlings looking alright? (pics)

Hi, RIU !!!
I am new around here and first I want to say hello and express my gratitude for the huge amount of free information that growers are always ready to share.. I've never seen such egoless generosity in any other community around the web, to be honest..

So, for lots of reasons, I decided to start grow my own stash, to be able to enjoy this plant without all the unnecessary things that come along when you don't have your own but you enjoy a lot smoking weed.

This is my first attempt and i germinated 5 northern lights (fem.) in 50/50 coco/perlite, under a 400w (yeah, i know.. waste of electricity and would have been better off with a fluorescent but this is what I got for now.. Same with the 400w, I know 5 plants could be too much space for a 400 but that's I have for the beggining)

Besides all the other plans that I will share in the near future, or other questions and dilemmas, in this very moment I am really curious if they seem to do fine, so far..

I am now in the middle of day 3. Are they looking healthy and "normal"? Should they be bigger? I mean, the true leafs should have grown more by now? I want to check this because I fed them very little amounts of nuts so far (like, not even 1/4) because I was affraid of a nute burn, and I am not sure if I should have done more of it. I know all the controversy about feeding them or not in the first week, but, after I did a lot of investigation, my guts tell me to incline to the feeding theory because it's coco and they seem to do fine, they don't have a negative reaction, by contrary, as I said, my dilemma is that maybe I should have pushed further cause they are starving for more

So, with that being said, I will upload the pics now and looking forward for your opinions. Thanks a lot, guys!! And comments and opinions will be much appreciated!

PS: Don't mind the humidity level, that was because I opened the dome to take the photos. Usualy stays around 73%

Welcome to RIU.

Your plants look fine. You can go ahead and keep the dome off. They don't need it. Also, you shouldn't have to feed for the first couple of weeks, so just use water for a week or so.

If all you have is a 400 then rock it out. I do prefer to start with smaller lights, but again, if it's all you have then go for it. Just make sure to keep it a good distance away and you'll be good.

Edit: btw I gave you your 1st like. Always remember me, one day I might ask you for a favor:fire:

Mine get a little nute burn almost every new grow, that's how I find their limit, maybe not the best method, but I haven't killed one yet.... Just a quick expansion on what Gary said about your lights, you didn't mention if your ballast is a dimable one, if it is you can turn it down a bit in early veg, sometimes helps, but so does distance

the balast is not dimable, but I will increase the distance a little

I thought about removing the dome, Gary, but when I do, my humidity drops severily to 40% or even to 30%...
Maybe my fan is too strong? I have a big fan on the floor put on the minimum speed, now.
My plan was to go with the dome in the seedling stage and then to find solutions to keep it at 50-55% for vegging.
but right now i see no solution to raise it from 35% to 75% without the help of the dome

At 27 days from seed popping through the rock wool and my rh has never once been higher than 60 at most, it usually stays right here in this zone, temps swing damn near 20° every day as well, I understand wanting to keep everything "optimal" but realistically speaking the perfect grow is like catching a unicorn taking a dump, I'd love to see it, but probably never will..... Point being don't stress to much trying to make everything perfect, just relax, let the plant do it's growing and you'll get these girls to chop time

You are right, man... Instead of trying to turn them perfect in this first attempt, something that will not happen for sure, I should focus on getting them to the end as good as I can. at least for the fact that trying too much I feel will lead me to stress them and make big mistakes

you both say the same thing and i trust your experience... and wow! some top bomb plants you got over there... I hope I'll get mine half that good looking and I will be happy

Don't worry about fast either, just focus on keeping her as healthy as you can, fast smoke ain't good and good smoke ain't fast, but if you get her to harvest time, and I mean really get her to harvest( I chopped my first one so young she tasted like hay, no amount of cure time could have helped) I can promise you that every puff will put a smile of satisfaction and pride on your face

And damn that is a nice monster Gary

I wish you luck and hope your plants turn out killer!

Check this thread out. Read it and lol, but I hope you get something out of it.
