If I were able to get ahold of these beyond dirt cheap, do you guys think something could be done worthwhile? I was thinking the possibility of maybe working off of the idea of even light spread that the bar style lights are using but with multiple underdriven cobs per bar. Or just a simple grid array, again with multiple underdriven cobs. I dunno, theres a million ideas going through my head right now but what do you guys think?

You aren't giving us much info to go on. How much is "beyond dirt cheap"? What do you consider worthwhile?
With other LEDs in the 175-185 lumen per watt range, the efficacy isn't very good at 123Lm/W, but they will certainly do the job.

Dirt cheap is roughly 25 cents each. I know I didn't give you much to go on and I apologize. That's because I'm not trying to achieve anything more than what it can do, an "it is what it is" type of thing. Also, leaving the question open ended like that is usually the easiest way to guarantee that everyone... the fanboy trend dick riders, the naysayers and the sinsible folks in the middle with an opinion will usually jump in. I've been building some lights here and there. Some for friends in need of economical lighting solutions, some for myself because the price of catnip is just too much to bare. I personally have NO environmental constraints such as size, height(within residential sanity), GR Temps etc. My limitations come in the form of finance mostly operating and build costs. If they will beat out the HPS & MHs for efficiency, and even heat produced so maybe I can build a few lights for some others, then I'll cut em some slack in the PAR and spectrum departments, if I have to. Hopefully that's enough of my life story to help y'all. Tune in tomorrow night for Chapter 96: LSD...my years with a knife juggling, ventriloquist unicycle rider named Shannon......

I dont think they are worth the hassle to build a flowering light. Spectrum is 4000k not ideal, efficiency at nominal is low, and to get efficiency up you would have to run them around five watts a piece meaning that you would need to solder around eighty cobs for one metre. Or paying for loads of cob holders. they might be worth it for vegg lights.

a better place to start might be whats your budget and space.

it is a good price though, but when you factor in time to build and low efficiency it gets expensive.

id check out bridgelux eb gen 3 for budget builds.

Probably need like 50-75 of them for a 3x3 space for example.

By the time you've got enough heat sink might be more cost effective to go with gen 2 EB strips and simple U profile Alu for heat sink.

Okey Dokey, I'm medicated and maybe a little tipsy so forgive me if it doesn't make readin when ya first get a sense of it ....
Well, I've got a few setups combined into slightly smaller separate projects but Just a reasonably, smallish somewhat medium but looks bigish small tent. 1 ParfactWorks, forget the series but it's a white case with removable optics for the central cob with 5 surrounding chips that enhance and add in the UV. It pulls 1.13 at the wall without fan running. Yes I do my readings with a Fluke, simply because it's all I have ever used professionally with few exceptions. The math is easierdn'...... Nah... Might give away my geographical location by my use of idioms and other non cousin related jokes.... Just saying that it's easy and i ain't spending that on a Killawarr just cause. It's covering a smidge over 2¼. This was also a gift from a rep that heard me when I said that my mater grow is medicinal(its due to the purety of h20 in some part ) and as bad as that sucks, our garage that was surrounding it didn't weather the storm either. I got an email from him asking my address. He's a light salesman, if you're doing the dubious, you'd be better off sneaking up on me as a fart; cause that's the only thing I don't pay attention to. Anyway, no hostage crisis, he was just 48 houring the light.
Then, there is an "Apelila Blinkish" the industries next best thing cause you guys calling their innovative full spectrum production "blurple", made em butthurt. This light LITERALLY cost me 2.75 and keep in mind this came available literally an hour or two after I got a shipping confirmation from parfact guy. I just needed to be able to get things started asap so spent 2.75 and have been pleasantly surprised, probably because I didn't expect them to be the best thing since sliced bread, but new if ANYTHING is used strictly to do what IT DOES Well, results will be something to smile about. Pulls 1.3 at the wall without fans and handles about 4sq ft of SOG.
The other 3/4 has been playing with a dual wing panel array of 5630s in WW, CoolW, red and blue. 1800 total running in 22"ish lengths going WW, CW, (B/R), CW, WW, (R/B). Ran by an rsp-320-24. And have been getting some short test sessions(due to schedule...2.5,13.5 and 22,not lighting sons and wife and ages ) with her strictly because the babies I have at the moment were started from seed under a 400MH that is still kicking ass and ain't remembering your names while veggin. So I didn't want to go makin em uncomfortable. Stranger in their room, interrupting the price is right.... Hell itd stress me to herm too. Just gonna seperate em so I can have a fair unbiased evaluation. BTW, Ill put up the final spec numbers on that one hopefully by the coming Monday.
Regards
