Are these White Widows ready for harvesting?

Hello all

These White Widows have been flowering since May the 2nd - that's almost three months! - and yesterday I thought they were ready for harvesting because most of the pistils have turned brown. But today it's like some have turned white again and now I'm not sure.

About 2 days ago I changes the light's on-time from 6 am - 6 pm to 1 am - 1 pm because i thought the heat of the day might be too much for the plants when the heat from the lamp is added. Could this have something to do with them looking ready? The day the light was changes I turned it off at about 2 pm (so it had been running for 8 hours) and it was then turned on again at 1 am.

I've tried taking a look at the trichomes but I think they're hard to see properly even with a 30x hand microscrope. They look pretty much clear to me, perhaps with a slight opaqueness to them, but not much.

We've started flushing them two days ago, should we just continue this or what? And how long do they have left?

Thanks in advance!

Ya will know when its ready. The buds will get real hard.
Keep it on 12x12 lighting.
Keep checking the trichs

I would say those have been ready... =]

You will always get white hairs when it starts to grow more bud formations (at the very top) but the lower parts of the bud will degrade...

The best way is to go to radio shack and get a hand held microscope...

Oe tear off a lil bud and flash dry it and test it out... It will be more harsh then the true product but you will get a good feel for the high and taste...

just like moon says you should try your buds out all along. When to harvest can be just a personal preference. I try to harvest mine about the time that 80 percent of the white hairs turn amber or orange. hope the info helps.

Thanks for your input all. I think I will keep flushing while taking a look at the trichomes frequently.

I should add that these White Widows are clones from plants that haven't done so well. The grow room was way too hot because of the 400 W HPS lamp. For this grow we have added suction to the lamp so the hot air generated inside the reflector is removed from the room.

I'm growing WW. They look nothing like that.

In fact, no WW I've ever seen looks like that.

Me thinks you ain't growing WW, chief.

Yeah, that does not look like white widow. WW has all white hairs and has very heavy resin production. WW is ready to harvest around week 6 of flower or you can let it go to week 8 max. The leaves look different as well.

We ordered White Widow seeds from Nirvana Seeds, and the receipt said White Widow as far as I remember, so I'm pretty sure they are White Widow.

We germinated those seeds, and grew plants that didn't do very well (because of too much heat, not the right amounts and ratio of nutrients, lack of water and probably some other things). We cloned the best looking plant and made some plants that were slightly better but not much. The best looking plant of these was cloned and these clones are the plants you see on the pictures. So they're 3rd generation clones.

I'm not sure if the non-WW look of the current plants are caused by the poor condition of the plants they were cloned from.

Should we start giving them nutrients again? Or is it fine flushing until we harvest?

Yeah, Nirvana screwed something up, or you just think you ordered WW.

But if you're going to get a wrong plant, Thai Stick is a good choice. :p

WW can be harvested at week 6 of flower but i let mine go to week 8. It really depends on what kind of buzz you want. I harvest when the trics are cloudy with some amber.

Cool, I'm not that unlucky then :).

BTW, I finally managed to get a good look at the trichomes. I used the handheld 30x microscope and took a picture through it so I could see it on a computer screen. They've turned milky alright. I think I will be flushing them until they start turning brown. Check out the pictures:

looks like you still got heat problems. and also to me they look stretched or something. how close is your light to the buds? Maybe try getting the lights closer to the tops about 6 inches away.
