"Area 51 LED" Information and discussion

So after reading through a lot of the threads I'm torn between 2 of the A51 w90's 4000k and the go green led box with the 4 cob setup. I'm ok with spending 500 but I wanted a second or third opinion. Thanks!!

if youre trying to find something for the longer term and you need to spread the light over a space of more than 6-8 square feet, I'd say the go green is a better option because its softer driven, more efficient and has more cobs to spread the coverage out a bit. But, I like the w90's for myself because they are modular and can be arranged in different ways, so as I continue to upgrade my set up with diy's or whatever I can use them for various purposes.

Thanks I think I wil start with the w90's and position em strategically, I have a small space for now so that makes sense. They have the 4000k in stock now, anyone know how long it takes to actually get the units, lastly do we know of a discount code for A51?

A51 selectively ignores people from certain countries. I've had a few countrymen tell me how disappointed with A51's customer service they were. Did my best to be a good customer and not make things difficult, but I couldn't even get a shipping quota from them. I've received two packages from US just this week alone, so I don't see why they couldn't send the lights.
It says very clearly in their FAQs...

"Q: Do you ship outside of the USA?
A: At the moment we only ship within the USA and to Canada."

Shipping prices are clearly shown for USA/Canada-based orders... so if you're asking for a shipping quote, that's almost by definition making things difficult.

From the day of my order on 10/21 it took 4 weeks including shipping time to receive the order.

I am very happy with vegging using 1 W90 per 2x2 space, and think you'll probably be happiest with three in that 3x6 space, but your plan to start low and go from there makes sense.

I'm going to do the same - I will see if flowering using one per plant in a 1 1/3' x 2 1/2 ' (16" x 30") scrog will work well and will add more if needed.

Question for the masses: I'm doing a 'perpetual grow' in three-week stages. If I add a fourth light, would it be best to evenly distribute all lights evenly over the 2 1/2' x 4' space, to put two for one of the plants (and which one - the first three weeks, the middle three, or the last three?) or to split its impact over two of the three plants?

Lol I can read so I got that part, that's why I asked how long and not how much but thanks for the follow up on the next post, 4 weeks isn't too bad.

In that post, I was replying to somebody else's post, not yours.

Just to clarify, I ordered 4000k lights... I think that some of the other color temperatures may have longer shipping times now.

Update (per their web site):
3000K lights: 5+ weeks;
4000K lights: 5-15 days;
5000K lights: in stock but low stock

They changed the info, originally they had something about if you're outside the US and would like to order, "please contact us". I did, they replied a few times, then stopped after I said I'm ready to order. I told them where I'm from in the first email. So they started ignoring me a few emails later. I guess it should say "we don't reply to people outside the US". Besides, if I'm paying in advance WTF does it matter if there's going to be customs etc. costs? I'm obviously going to pay the 60 bucks extra if I'm willing to pay the full price of the light.

ahh shit, new computer, old e-mail crap gone, no contacts. Tried sending a personal to you Erasor, but it's turned off? Eraser. my latest RW-150 (my 3rd A51 fixture) with a manufacture date of July 2015, has just one half of the white led's out. To clarify, when I turn on the switch for RED led's, all light up, when I turn on the switch for the WHITE led's, only HALF of them light, any simple open and fix suggestions that I can do, or is it, re-package and send in?

I had poor dealings with Mars hydro and after seeing all the negative responses and conversations on THC talk between a Mars rep and customers i was definitely not going to invest any more with them. Ive been looking for some better alternatives, I attempted to contact Area 51 but didn't receive a reply. After reading the threads i wont hold my breath! Whats with everyone having poor business acumen in this industry? I ended up running with this guide for a new build i found on youtube which gives incredible results in PAR and price. Theres a few solid DIY guides popping up in the last few days
Keen to know what others on here ended up choosing

I got a response every time I pm'd eraserhead on their forum at http://www.ledgrowlight.lighting/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=3. I am running 6 a51 w90's right now as I wasn't ready to build my own lights a few months ago and am really happy with the quality of growth I am getting and the product overall, but I am also eager to begin a diy build with cree cxb's driven at 1.05 amps. I would say don't get discouraged because you have plenty of options available, and you should just do the diy if you can because you will the happiest of all with that lighting.

I also had no problems with getting replies when I was enquiring about the expected shipping date after my purchase.
