It seems like area51 doesn't ship to europe any longer? that sucks as I have the XGS190 and would like to add an RW150.
Does anyone know why they suddenly stopped shipping worldwide? and what company/product would be a good alternative for me? onyx? or something else? thanks!

There are some companies in US where you can ship the products to, and they will ship that product to any location in the world. It is an extra step, cost a bit more but you can buy any product in US while they do not ship outside US.

Yea, Area 51 seems to lack in consistency on the business side. They seem to have a great product but everything else with them is a crap shoot.

It shouldn't be long before EH comes to this thread to tell us how stupid we all are and if we don't understand something that maybe we should go fuck off elsewhere. He might as well make it his sig.

Seems like a tradeoff. If they put more attention into the "experience," the lights might be $40 more. I like saving money, so the rough-around-the-edges experience is ok with me. :)

I've always compared A51 (or EH/Jeff) to the Seinfeld "soup nazi." If you want to make suggestions to the chef, you'll likely be told "no soup for you." He has plenty of people waiting in line. It's just a choice which line you choose to stand in. Personally, I don't want to tick off the chef. I don't want to be George Costanza, running around trying to find someone to buy a bowl of soup for me. :)

I wish they had a blog feature on their web site so Jeff could communicate more to his customers about the latest happenings, changes to the way they do things, etc. They could even turn off comments if their afraid a few pissy customers will drag them into time-wasting flame wars. Just one-way communication would be great.

(I'd suggest they change their DNS entry for a51led.com to point to a51led.net. There's no reason for the .com domain to sit with an old storefront, contributing to consumer confusion. There's no reason for it to be "parked" with a disclaimer that people should go to the other side. That's what DNS is for. It should be transparent, as many domain names as they'd like to have, all going to the same web host.).

A simple 301 redirect would do the trick.

My understanding is their international shipping was coming out of Hong Kong or somewhere like that. As a Canadian customer that kind of sucked because a) I paid more for shipping and b) I'd get charged a customs fee. Now that they're just shipping from the US I pay about $35 less in shipping and no customs fee (which was around $50 on my last purchase). So, I hope if they do start up world-wide shipping again that they continue to ship to Canada from their US warehouse. Yeah, USPS and Canada Post seem to be a little harder on the boxes, and my mail delivery person (who one actually gets to know after awhile) asked what it was for (aquarium light), I'm still into saving the extra bucks in shipping and customs.

Still shipping outside NA,just not off the website. You need to contact Jeff for a shipping quote, here's part of a email he sent me.

"We're only shipping to USA and Canada for now straight from the website.
EU, AU and NZ customers need to get an invoice sent to them with shipping
prices based on where they are and what shipping they want to use."
