Too hard to get the right temps and maintain them with frozen bottles. Ok at the end of a run for 24-48 hours to get res temps really low to induce EOL stress signal.

With a chiller they maintain temps, usually within 1 degree. I.e, set at 20C and when res temp hits 21C the chiller brings it back to 20C.....repeat.

Yea frozen bottle aint gunna give exact cpl degree changes it would be more uncontrolled temp swings unless you wanna be standing over the res all day fuk that though. RDWC sounds the goods cuase to a certain point it can maintain itself over a period of time so skimpin on a chiller would defeat the purpose

Good luck outdoors the next couple months everyone. Couple of mine are just starting to show flowers, think it's off to the races now.

Ended up landing on eco-protector from OCP. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Really liking what I'm seeing so far, growing rather well and smelling pretty damn nice.

Just about the chop a couple. Handled the heat pretty well some slight foxtailing, still some purple hues even in the heat and have chunked up nicely. Will flick a couple pics over next few days sometime.

Yea RDWC sounds better although the root clogs would be a pita but using larger piping an that would minimize any root clog.. The water fall dwc would still create enough DO an not need airstones but more rooting around with buildin tgat type of system
You not sold on the idea of droppin frozen bottles of water into the res tank

Frozen bottles work if you want to commit to it.

I used to run sterile and then tried beneficials and just found from personal experience that I got better results from not running sterile systems.

By the looks of it @2easy is the man to get straight answers from experience with RDWC.

Either way is fine. If you use a lot of additives and any of them have organic matter then go with bennies. Thats my 2cents.

So you would be using a mix of organic nutes? Would the micro life present in the system be wat causes the better results? I like the idea of sterile cause sounds like its more stable with less rootin round

Just did a bit of googling to try and work out why I had better results with beneficial than sterile and the common theme was that below which I’ve extracted from an article.

“Beneficial microbes offer hydroponic growers benefit beyond other methods of pathogen control / prevention. I.e the use of beneficial microbes is not only demonstrated to control / eradicate pathogens but also to enhance yields through hormone stimulation, enzyme production and other mechanisms. The same cannot be said for sterilisation methods such as UV, ozone, monochloramine, chlorine and hydrogen peroxide.”

Jimy, I just use (at different stages from cutting to harvest), rhizotonic, great white and cannazym. Add Canna Aqua, and Canna Boost and that’s all I use in a recirculating system.

Thanks for taking the time. Id assume cause your setup an the way you go about it would be fairly dialed in do you have much ph swing. Although it may sound boring an not interest many people im abit the opposit an im hooked on it all

The blokes (and women) that do this have balls of steel.

Just like the Military Reserves, they should be paid something tax-free by the Government for volunteering their time & efforts/commitment to the Australian community. Without them, we'd be royally fucked.
