fiwh, for someone who hasnt used coco before, i wouldnt suggest hand watering or going straight coco, id do a 50/50 coco/perlite mix and do top feed to waste, you will get the best results this way. Coco itself holds alot of water, so its very very easy to over water, the surface of the coco looks dry but an inch down is saturated, you then flood it again and push all the oxygen out, the plant needs a perfect balance to uptake the nutes so the plants feeding window is dramatically cut down as the oxygen has to balance again as youve just flooded it, doing this repeatedly puts stress on your girl. Using the mix allows for more run off, so over watering is minimized. just my 2 cents worth for you.

Supa, as for your 50/50 and 90/10 comparison, its difficult to compare because its all dependant upon line prime times, feed pressure, how much it dumps in a given period, it varies alot, i irrigate with low feeds, i m irrigating for 12 secs every 3 hours, i have done the tests and know that in 12 secs it dumps 500ml per pot, there isnt alot of run off which means the plants are uptaking the 500ml.

Cheers for that SM ,but Ive already got a 10 pot inside pot ,recirculating system running now.
Have you seen the seemorebuds movie "15 pounds in 80 days "?? Holy fuck its awesome. Thats the road I want to head down with the system he uses in that movie.
The problem is you cant buy the aquamist systems he uses in that movie in Australia, at least I cant seem to find it.Ill try and dig up some links to the system and the movie if you havent seen it.

shankae, your right, you cant buy aquamist here, due to the importation costs on the plastics, they simply cannot get enough in a container to cover the landed cost.

hiyall just a newb who's havin some trouble finding specific info...looking for best strains for SEQld- Gold Coast.... stronger the better, indica and sativas...
edit: would this location be ideal for autoflowers? maybe under 20% shade cloth in summer..
i've trolled countless forum pages looking for info re seeds, growing, indoor/outdoor..... any opinion on strains etc would be much appreciated..
will be growing outdoor under shade cloth in soil/perlite in pots, with as much organic nutes as poss(i know i won't have to go crazy with nutes in soil..); temperate tending sub-tropical:7-9 months warm season...thinking sativa hybrids.. want smaller, hardier strains of both the heavy-trippy high and heavy couch/vid game-lock types! good/ideal climate good start for me so looking for easy-care..

any advice from anyone appreciated..

oh yeah: especially interested in autoflowers.. seems too good to be true but worth a shot for potenial yeild/variety... not looking for huge "commercial" yeilds.. but want plenty to play with (tinctures, oil, vape).
cheers.

Trying to find a big enough "tub "with a good fitting lid is the biggest hurdle to make your own system.
Ive already re-created the tables, i used a 1m x 1m flood and drain table with a 45 litre res underneath, i went to a plastics manufacturing company and bought a 1m x 1m piece of solid white perspex that was 12mm thick so it didnt flex, i made the manifold from 15mm pvc and used 83 micron mister heads, i had a pre-filter coming from the res so no fine debris would go through the misters and clog them up. It worked well, however, you will never get it the same as a bought unit so i put it in storage and ended my aeroponics quest. Dont take my failure as a deterant though, go for gold man !!! think outside the square on the tub, find something perfect size, the flood & drain table i used had high walls which made it perfect along with the indent for the lid to sit, the hardest part is drilling the pot holes in line with the manifold and misters, takes a little math to get it worked it out perfect.
