Hey all,im on the nsw E/coast and due to space restrictions, living arrangements etc i REALLY wanna get a decent outdoor grow goin (20-30plants) possibly this year but most probably next season. I've only had one small indoor grow but do have plant knowledge,id really love some help from any outdoor growers on how they protected their patch from all the hungry furry bastards runnin around.
Also some tried and tested methods/tips.Anything the aussie outdoor grower should know or anything that would help is greatly appreciated.
cheers

Hey there beginnerbloomer,
If you have a bit of spare time check out my thread here
>>> https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/126997-bloody-kangaroos-ideas.html

It deals with alot of the pest animals that we have to look out for here
some of the ideas there are great for keeping your crop safe =]
its most likely too late now for you to start if you want to get a great yeild, but get all your gear ready for next year and have some seedlings ready to go out next grand final day =D
you could grow a few indoor plants in the meantime and get some good female clones to put out in time for next year even

hopefully by the end of this season i will have a few good things to let you know about growin in australia hoping my first big outdoor goes well =D
im sure some of the pro's around here will have some pointers

looking good guys!!
i wish you all the best of luck, lets hope we all get monster plants like O4aUsErNaMe

bensencox - i have read that higher nitrogen in the soil early, lower temperatures, more space for the tap root to grow are all good ways of increasing the chances of getting a female ... but who knows if they are proven really...
cloning is the only way to do it properly , but i tried those things anyway haha just to see how it goes =D
cheers for that man ill give em all a go ill keep this thread posted wen i take more progress shots :leaf:

has anyone tried clicking on the legal marijuana tab in the top right corner of this website.
reason i ask, i was wandering if anyones actually ordered any from there becuase the prices are insane.
+ i wanted to know if the stuff actually gets you high like illegal bud.
i very much doubt it cause it seems to good to be true, so any comments would be appreciated.

pre thanks. :)

dont worry bout the legal marijuana question, i looked into it a little more and relized they dont post to auz.....Bastards....anyway

i went for a light stroll through the bush today to try find my grow spot, (yes i am starting a little late i know, oh well)
and i ended up getting lost for a good part of an hour, walking back and forth through wombat tracks thinking i was heading to the man made tracks.
it was so frustrating.
thought i would let you all know :)
so i guess ive learnt that you dont need to venture "half way across the world" to find a good grow spot, only reason i went so far into the bush in the first place is because of all the little stoners around where i live, i dont trust em one bit, plus i have nosey neighbours.
i still cant get to sleep and its bloody light outside, funny how it "creeps" up on you. i wish i had some smoko.
i waisted 7 hours last night waiting to get on and in the end it didnt even happen :(,
i havent slept yet. im waiting for 12 midday so i can call my "freind" to help me out.
thats my story. hope you liked it. its ok if you didnt, im not upset or offended, it was a pretty shit story anyway. but i feel better for telling it. :)
excellent back to reading and waiting.
cheerio.

AUZZIE PRIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!

they werent doing to bad, im glad it was only a month into it cause if the girls had growin enough to have there own personalities i think it would being alot harder to seperate from them :)

I've got a little plant going (Melbourne/Vic) - it's been growing for around 8 weeks and looks like it's a female (it's got little brown hairs growing).

The little buds look about 1/2 cm long - anyone know how long before they will be big enough to harvest?

looking good mate, i'd say at least 8 weeks, no point harvesting early, i'm in vicco too and we're just about to hit perfect time for plants so i'd leave it till at least the end of january, but its safe to leave until april obviously the longer u leave it the bigger the harvest will be, only issue you may run into is pot size it doesn't look big enough for a HUGE plant :) get yourself some 'big bud' juice from a bong/growing shop. I know there is at least one in Melb CBD. If u start feeding it what the bottle says you'll have a few big buds you can snip off in no time...then you can leave the baby to continue growing for you :)

hey i was reading what smokey mcsmoke was saying and if im right that means he will be harvesting his plant at 4 months old. 8 weeks plus 8 weeks. you do know that a plant can grow for like 9 months right? my plant is looking exactly like your plant and mine is 8 weeks old too. are you sure what your seeing isnt just vegetation growing (like new leafes and branches. i keep thinking they are hairs meaning its female but then they turn into another branch or leaf. it just seems weird that your plant is already budding and its only 8 weeks old. unless its hydro?

you'd be wrong....helicopters with thermal sensors cruise past all the time and most of that 'open land' is barren and you couldn't grow any form of weed as the soil is shithouse, speaking of which anyone know how many plants close together u can have before they show up to the choppers? and how close together they can be?
dude it dont take many but u will get away with a few everynow and again but yea they r always chopper doing somethink somewhere personaly i hate aus for the likes of weed cos its hard to gett seeds and for those who say the can i dont see how cos i have been caught 3 times trying to get seeds in plain brown bags etc when they are scanned at customs they will have them burned etc so i am finding myself asking how u managed to get them i am waiting for a reply, if there wasnt so much personal info on the fines i got from trying to get seeds in i would prove it but yea i'm not going to, i'v eben tryed to get them send to those boxers u can hire at post offices under another name. but they name on the packages always get me. but i think its good there are alot of aussies here :)

hi moe
i have had (undisclosed amount) lots of seeds get through in plain brown envelope's.mine all go to a po box.
and i just think australia with its long grow season is just fantastic for growing a bit of weed.
now i dont know who you were getting them from
you just have to be the unluckiest bloke alive .............

if you read it closely you will find that i recommend leaving it in alot longer than 16 weeks. BUT i had a very late plant that was only in for 3 and a half months very very late in the season a few years back (late jan to april) and it budded fine in that time and i got about an ounce and a half off of it dry. some strains flower earlier than others too, but as far as i can see it looks about the right size to start producing buds, yes.

Yeah I'm not very sure if it's female or male yet, guess I'll have to wait. It does look very different to another one that I grew this year that turned out to be male, so fingers crossed.
