Hello from Ireland, my first post here too.Well ive grown outdoors a couple of times but they were a while back and were plant and walk away kinda things.i have 2 Dutch Passion. Auto Mazar germinating using the paper towel method.I will be purchasing a 250w hps kit with ballast in 48hrs or so.. i have a minimum sized area to grow which is.. dont laugh, the underneath of a computer desk! I have a worry and it is the mazar will grow too tall, i have about 28cm in complete height to work with.. will i have to move them?? second concern is i plan on using very light soil with the pebble syuff that starts with v. Is this correct. I also have seen its best for a large pot i have a 15 litre pot. too big? I plan on 20/4 light, don't have a clue witch nutes!! All help welcome

Your pot is about right for one plant... Thats a lot of light for a small space, maybe a 100w or 70 would be better? You can top the plants after they get going and it will slow em down from getting to tall.
Just be sure and do it before they get real big. You might want to look into some of the training techniques as 28cm. isnt much room. I dont know what the pebble stuff is, but any good potting soil will work fine, some has the nutes in it. Good luck with your grow. Here's a pretty decent guide to nutes and they arent trying to sell you some overpriced bullshit.

I use miracle grow. I have never grown an autoflower so dont know if 24/0 is right or not, personally I think plants need a few hours of rest to do well.

Thanks for the reply and i am about to read that guide on nutes!! i have realised that i will probably need to move them to the attic when they start to outgrow my space.. No luck yet on the germination side but its only really just over 30 hrs so, time is in control here as i beleive i have the method down- plate - paper towel - settled water - and on top of water tank in airing cupboard.. finger crossed eh!! not quit up on the traffic of the seeds from where i purchased but a few years back i got some reall good northern lights there.. Whats every ones opinion on cfl kits, the red and blue bulb at 125 w, seems to be a bit of uncertanty on forums and other sources as to the way to go with lights and such, this is all a learning curve, all that i learn from this grow and this forum will be directly accountable for my gorilla antics come time. PS, this forum has got it all im glad i picked you guys, i like to type a bit lol. hope ye can handle me haha! i promise some pics once in pots

Also im starting to beleive from internet sources and a close friend who is a very good grower in a land of none over here, that hydro is the key to my succes, dwc comes to mind . chime in on this guys as it will most likely be the next method

I think I would want to be closer to 150 watt actual for CFL's or more. Color depends on Veg/Flower. You can do Hydro/DWC, but you are talking more expense and more maintenance. Plain water and water soluble nutes work just fine IMO. You're gonna find that people tend to think that whatever they use is the best without any scientific reason. There are many ways to achieve the same thing, some easier.

Ok update so far is, went to local store and bought two cfl's , Philips tornado 20w and a 15w, on the box it states 20w = 115w and the 15w = 85 w, probably all bull but its somthing! there are rated 1350 and 950 lumens . Made up a cord with two new light fitting on it and bam.. light!! i can double this tomorow, but im feeling like buying a proper flower one as most of this pant life is in flower, right ?? still waiting on mazar to germ. hate the wait!! oh yeah i was wondering what spectrum these cfls are about as it does not say just watt and lum. sorry if i seems to ask the same questions or are not making sense, i will learn the jargon soon and ect..ect..

As of now i have no treatment but, i will have to move them eventually due to heights issues and the new area is wide open, an attic basically so im hoping it will dillute? maybe?

Go by the actual watts, not the equivalent...Most say to shoot for 10,000 lumens per plant It ownt hurt to have a few flower lights while vegging or vegging lights while flowering. If there is a serial number on the bulb maybe you can search with google and find out. Usually Cool white or indoor are 2650k or so and the Daylight are 5000k or more.

hope this helps ...
Happy growing!

A bit confused here at the mo.. the seeds that i paid good money for from a store dont seems to be making any effort to germinate. i know this takes time but!! i also tried to germ a few bagseeds also at the same time and soaked them paper towel and nothing, tossed them in some soil and now i have two normal photoperiod plants above soil under light and the auto's which i need and want to grow aint doin squat lol

I biught some auto flower fems from everybodydoesit.com and they were all duds, told me they would refund my money if I sent them my bank account info. Lost my business... It shouldn't take but about 48 hrs. to germinate in a paper towel, the seeds should have cracked open or something. My first grow was from 5 reg. seeds, I got 1 female out of all of that.

Good news folks!! both seeds just popped and i is stoked!! went to store today got myself another pot, around a bout 10 liters. a fresh bag of moss peat!! will moss peat do??. plus a bag of vermiculite. Disenfected both pots and mixed a 70/30 mix of soil/vermiculite. Filled and watered plus set both seeds in as should, I am now hope fully on my way to having my buds!!. Hope this works out for me as the Mazar strain i choose has been suggested to me for insomnia. which i have buckets of. Thanks rollinbud for the help and suggestions.

Personally I like the premixed stuff, that way I dont have to worry. I think you might need more than peat moss and vermiculite, check around on the threads, there's probably plenty of recipes. I think they add sand too, not sure.

If you type soil mox into the search box up type you will find all kinds of different recipes for homemade soil mix.
