Auto vs Photoperiod

just wanted to know pro's & cons of each, yield potency ?? ? i dont know shit bout auto flowering plants

well autoflowering plants are intended to yield smaller amounts fast, 1 ounce or 2 every 60-90 days per plant. photoperiod plants can be vegged however long you desire and sometimes take up to 90 days to finish flowering.
as for potency, there are many breeds that are available in both photoperiod and auto. so pick a good strain and i couldnt imagine it being much different auto.

AUTO:

Pros - plant matures by age, you can keep lights on 18/6 until harvest, you don't need as much space per plant, depending on strain you harvest around 8-10weeks after sprouting the seed, you can go perpetual in the same grow room, simpler on nutes and medium, there's some really good auto strains.

Cons- you can't grow 5ft monsters, you can't keep strains unless you seed them, cloning and re vegging are a no-no, yield (unless you have a small space)

PHOTO:

Pros - You pick the age you want to flower a plant, you can grow bigger to gain a bigger yield, cloning, mothers, can keep a strain perpetual, you can keep a plant vegging if something happens, more strains to pick from, easier to breed

Cons - more space for bigger plants, for perpetual you need 2 grow areas, you use more nutes per plant the longer you keep them, from seed takes longer to harvest when vegged

That's just off the top my head. neither of them really have cons, each grow area requires its unique pros and cons. Those are just my opinions coming from my grow room.

Its mostly down to what strain you want, (not all strains are autos and not all auto strains you can get),
your grow area, (work out what you have and how you can use it well),
and your opinion.

^^^^hes right. i dont mean to threadjack, but i wonder, when harvesting seeds from an autoflower strain, does the father have to be an autoflower to pass those genes? i would hate to pollinate a photoperiod and lose those autoflower genes.

That's where it gets complicated.. its all about if the strains you want to cross are stabilized. If not then you won't always get auto seeds and you'll get many different traits. Honeslty there's a lot of info on breeding too much for this thread lol I can point you to some threads if you want to read :P

that would be nice thank you

I run auto's in my veg tent, So far pineapple exspress, northren lights, all pulled about an ounce and great smoke, very nice relaxing high, Ladiva and big devil just got cut and drying so no weight or smoke report on them yet. la diva did not have the weight like the others,

Autoflowers tend to be richer in CBD, and so are appealing for those who want to medicate, than many regulars because of the ruderalis in their genotype which is dominant in CBD and not so much in THC thus you will generally find a higher CBD:THC ratios among autos, which usually arise from a cross of a regular and ruderalis.
