so what do you grow ?
...i grow keepers bro and some i've had for several years, ...when i find something i really like i will clone it and then reverse one of the clones and use he/she to pollinate another of it's clones giving me femminized beans that are as close to clone in seed form as is possible.

...at the same time i also like to use that pollen to cross with all my other keepers just to see what i get, i've found some very nice plants this way.

peace, bozo

at one point all weed was ditchweed
not true at all, if by ditch weed, you mean ruderalis.. if by ditch weed, you mean wild, land race, than of course, but there's a huge difference between some wild so called ditch 2o foot tall sativa, and some ditch ruderalis..

i lived in detroit for a few years smoked medical more times than i can count
lived in houston you can get caught with a qp in Htown and walk away with a ticket most of the time
ive smoked good photo weed
and to be honest a properly grown auto with good genetics is not that far behind
and very soon will be just as potent
i know its sacrilegious to speak that way
but after growing auto's for close to 5 years im noticing that they keep getting better and better

I've grown autos 2x both timesAfgan Ryder Kush. Ist harvest a little over 4 oz from 3 plants in 5galpots. Kickass Bud so say I and all who tried it. 2nd time 3 plants 5gal pots about 2oz. Bud still very fucking good though. When I'm done with my current grow of Aurora Indica I plan on growing bubblicious autos from Nirvana. All in all autos do produce good bud and are a little faster to grow. And you don't have to fuck with light schedules, I let mine grow lights on 24/7.

I don't like growing autos, they smell funny and have a weird taste. However in the last week Ive been so stoned on amnesia haze and haze 2 AF it was unreal!! Someone pointed out that I have a low tolerance to ruderalis as I hardly smoke it. Made sense. One joint would creep up and smash me for hours!!

The ONLY benefit I see with growing autos is running them outdoors. I usually put a half dozen or so out with my regular photoperiod plants in the spring as a early bumper crop. Those extra few ounces come in handy. That's just me though. A lot of people don't feel it is worth the time and extra expense.

As far as autos being "ditch weed" I am going to have to disagree. Of course, there are a lot of lousy strains out there, but I've grown some autos in the woods that were pretty good quality. Nothing top shelf, but certainly not ditch weed. Honestly, some that I have grown you wouldn't even be able to tell it was auto unless I told you. If you are going to grow autos, you really need to do your homework and go with the right strains.

indoors
one room on 24/0 plant 2 beans every 2 weeks
then you'll be pulling 3-6 oz every 2 weeks when you're dialed in and only need 1 tent

Auto's have there place and that place is outdoors IMO. They are out of the ground quicker, less chance of mold, cold and DEA. I know i appreciate the few ounces i get halfway through my down time. I don't do the outdoor thing anymore but have done a few auto's outside knowing i'll be short (i dont grow inside in the summer, way to hot here). So yes i love me Auto's when needed lol. As for good and bad, well its kinda like regular seeds, some good some bad lol IMO.

Ok I just finished my first auto, and I had great results. My yields were greater than my last photoperiod plant! The final plant was just as big too. I think a decent setup may have also contributed. Here's what I used.

1 Dutch Passsion Blueberry Auto Feminised seed
1 bag of fox farm ocean forest soil
1 5 gallon pot (yes 5 gallon not 3)
Nutrients Iguana Bloom (1-10), Bud Candy (2-10) , Big Bud (3-6) and Overdrive (7-8) Plain Water Flush (8-10)
Light CFL's first 30 days, then 1 Kessil H350 Magenta for 10 weeks of bloom

I ended up with about 400 plus grams of some of the sweetest Blueberry I've ever had. I will definitely be growing more autos because of this. My favorite thing about autos was keeping them on 20/4 light from seed to harvest. I could tinker with my grow anytime without worrying about a dark period.

Awhile ago I was all fired up about autos and then had terrible luck with them. Someone pointed out to me that if I want to grow weed that will be ready to harvest in 60+ days....just put any regular seed into 12/12 from the get-go. The results are arguably better and yield should be about the same.

Is it better to grow a auto or a regular seed for first time growers?

IMO, most autos are more hearty than regular plants, meaning they can better handle high temps, over watering and feeding etc.

You can still fuck up autos. If you are fucking up autos, you are probably going to fuck up regular plants.

From reading this board the most common ways of fucking up plants are

over feeding, bad nute ratios etc
heat
over watering

I just could never warrant buying auto beans. After spending money on a six pack of vertigo autos from paradise.... two where about a zip and four where runts truly disappointed. They where FEMS though. If I get an auto it was a freebie.

Even tried again with another pack from freedom of seeds. It was worst at least paradise had resin. Freedoms gear was blah and it had jack herer in it. I'm not writing em off though. If gotten freebie autos that did good outdoor with good potency. Dinafem seems consistent with their autos. But I still find it hard to buy em.

I'm saving any auto beans I get doing em outdoor. Then feming the best lady for beans of multiple crosses. They are handy for those early bumper harvest I admit that. Outdoors you could probably get away with about two harvest a year. Maybe three at best season dependent.

But a photoperiod lady will always take priority in my garden. In the end like a few have said it strain dependent. Wish y'all good circumstances and favorable conditions for your smoking quest.bongsmilie
