here my autos. getting bigger. 4 are about ready.
First off homey, very nice lookin ladies, props friend.

Second off, can anyone help out with some tips on drying. I've seen the tricks up close, & feel the funky resin all over my fingers when I touch, but when I go to hang, the smell like freakin hay or grass or something. Perhaps this is what they are supposed to do, but I suppose I was just expectin them to be super stanky, the way they look.

So here's the facts of the case.

I chopped the main top colas Monday night, and chopped the lower nodules last night.

I took the fat girls out of the dryin box last night after they had been in there for only 72 hours (good temps & rh, approx. 75, & rh is round 40).

The thing was, last night, they all felt dry & ready to roll, so of course in all my noob wisdom, I put them into mason jars. I was also tryin to clear out space in dry box, so that I could get last nights' chop (lower stuff) in there.

This morning, I cracked them open & they were all super moist again like WAY too moist), so I put them back in a different box I made today (with same dryer string set up & passive intake using 4" inline fan)

So, now I have x2 boxes, the larger ones were hung in there monday night til THurs. night, in jars for about 12 hours, then back in drying box & the rest are in another box since last night.

Do super dank nugs smell like drying plant material when you first go to hang & dry, or are they just stanky from whole way thru? My shits smells like grass &hay right now, but looks like fire. & the few "test runs" I've done dryng in the oven @ 200 degrees) worked very well & tasted & had the desired effect.

They look funky, & have super gooy shiz all over which also smells fantastic after touching & smelling fingers, just not sure how to ensure they don't smell like hay.

My first dry & just can't drop the ball @ the goal line like this.

Pull-eaze hit me w/ some feedback
thanks 4 evthin in advance folks.

Hey y'all, I give up trying to use this freaking scope I've got to look at my trichs. I can't hold the thing still, can't get it to focus before it moves to something else, and have to set it right on my buds to get a good look. Me no like. I have a friend who has a little loupe that he just carries in his pocket. Does anyone know where I can get something like this or is there anything a little easier to use, for those of us whose hands aren't that steady and eyes don't work as well as they used to?

I've got three girls that are only about a week out from harvest and I need to watch them. :(

hey sh2h, don't be two concerned they always smell like fresh hay when drying. its a good thing it means that your not knocking them around to much. if they didn't smell when you touched them, than you would be in strife.its also normal for them to be moist like that, its all part of the curing process. you will prob do this a few more times. each time they get crispy- dry, wack em in the jars again and the moisture content will even out, then when they are moist again take em back out for some air.keep doing this till they no longer get moist and the stem will snap instead of bending. while all this is going on the chlorophyll will start to break down turning it a nice golden colour. the longer the cure the better.cut and smoked fresh it looks good but is like smoking barbed wire, allow it to cure for a couple of weeks and it will look even better and feel like smoking air.and remenber don't stress people are always here to help.happy days.

You have to ope the jars every so often like every couple hours, at least every 4-6 hours. At first that is. Its a pain but I like to empty my jars and fan them with a magazine or something for a minute then put them back in. After a week or two of this your jars can be left alone, for the most part, just keep opening them after that whenever you can remember too, like once or twice a week at least. Eventually you wont have to touch them at all, they will be nice a cured perfectly, not too dry, not too moist, just right, imo, if done right that is. Try to keep the temps anywhere from 70-75 degrees, and yes that small sucks at first and might make you think you fucked up somehow, but it will go away, and your cannabis plants true color, smell, and flavor will come out. Keep in mind that they need to dry and cure in the dark, as they are still alive for a little while after you cut them down, the plant is changing starches into sugars, and what not, Look at your trichs, they will still change color over the first week or two maybe more of the drying and curing process. I still had quite a bit of clear heads on my rhino outdoor, because it had to be taken early, and many of them changed to white after a while, which is probably the best reason to dry and cure in the dark, and the smell turned out fantastic, as did the flavor.bongsmilie

hey i just grabbed a nice 30x loupe on ebay for $3. With shipping the grand total was like $12, but had it in hand within 3 days. I did also find some jewelers in town, as well as gem & beads stores that had them. (Then i strolled in yesterday, and our local hydro shop finally got wise & has a few there as well:wall:)

Don't waste time @ head shops though, (not here anyway), they had some for up over $20/ per piece & were only like 2-5x magnification.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, they are a hot object that china has been puttin out for sometime, so they are quite ubiquitous these days.

good luck!

ahh, thanks a ton my friend, (and all else who broke off some wisdom for me on this one).

Seriously, just hearing that I'm not screwed w/ the smell of thangs really helped out. Incredibly interesting when you get into the nuts & bolts of what makes this plant so amazing. Wow, no idea evthing that happened behind the scenes to get the dank dank. Guess thats why I paid out my ars for it.

Alright, i'm cool w/ patience, just needed to be sure I was headin in the right direction with good stuff.

I'll stay the course nimbin, thanks for the quick reply!

One last one nimbin, how often do u feed ur reg. photo gals during their dark period on 12/12?

sorry in advance for a photo question all.:-P

4 oz is usually what I put in them and it leaves some room for air to get to everything so it will cure properly.
