Autoflowering

Well, tomorrow is the day that I will start my 12/12 light cycle to begin the flowering....

As I was finishing up work on my grow tonight I noticed that one of my plants has already started to flower (it appears to be a female:mrgreen::mrgreen:)...

This was REALLY surprising to me since I have had my plants in a veggie state for 5 weeks on a 24 hour a day light schedule...

The lights have been off for MAYBE 10 minutes since I started the grow...

I also have read that there are some strains that can autoflower (it has been 5 weeks)...
I am growing with a variety of different seeds so I dont know for sure what strain any of my plants are, but there are definitely a few different types....

My question(s) is this: If this is NOT a strain that autoflowers what is the likelihood that this is a hermie?

Lowryder Seeds

Genetics: William’s Wonder / Northern Lights No. 2 / Mexican Ruderalis
Type: Stabilized hybrid, True-Breeding
Harvest Date: 2 months from sowing.
Flowering Period: 5 weeks
THC Content: Unknown
No of Seeds Per Packet: 10
Characteristics: Small, hardy, autoflowering strain, small yields.
Aptly named for its low profile (both literally and figuratively), Lowryder was developed for extreme rapid growth (life cycle is 8 weeks from seed to bud), uniquely short height, and amazingly versatile.
Lowryder is stable and reliable in its properties, a product of nine generations of selective breeding, and is non-deviant and hermaphrodite-free. Lowryder claims direct descendance from superior William’s Wonder and Northern Lights no.2 indica, as well as a more exotic, virtually unknown short variety believed to be descended from “Mexican Ruderalis,” an experimental cross created over 25 years ago.
Passing directly from the seedling to the flowering stage, Lowryder altogether does away with the vegetative growth stage, in a process called autoflowering. In other words, when planted, it sprouts, grows a couple sets of leaves, then immediately and automatically begins flowering (males at about day 17, females at day 20). As a result, it is the quickest, most compact, and most discrete plant available.
Having no vegetative stage, Lowryder can’t be cloned or regenerated, for all intents and purposes. Replanting seeds is a must. But then, this plant’s unique advantages do away with any reason for cloning in the first place. It is an ideal parent strain, producing some offspring with its unique autoflowering traits.
To complement its unique characteristics, Lowryder’s final appearance, taste, and high, have nothing to envy of the finer weed varieties, an excellent strain with high potency and good resin production

Newb question but if this plant auto flowers, does it need 12/12 to carry on? Could you leave it on 18/6?

not a newb question, not many people grow ruderalis... and that's a very interesting question, i'd have never come up w/it.. sooo.. quick.. someone answer it. i don't see how you can bring an autoflowering plant that does NOT have a vegetative stage back into vegetation w/more light... so for sake of arguement, couldn't a 24 schedule be maintained? man i envy you fuckers w/24 hour light cycles and strains that can handle that.... my plants do NOT dig the 24 hour

Exactly... Lowryder is good, but the Joint Doctor recently released Lowryder #2, which is Lowryder, but crossed with Santa Maria, a sativa-type, it's supposed to be much better than Lowryder original.

Mdanzig, another notable Autoflowering breeder has crossed Lowryder with Master Kush to get Masterlow, another autoflowering variety, and the THC ic supposed to be 18% or so. He also does one called Powerstout, and will be releasing BlueStreak, a Masterlow x DJ Shorts Blueberry. Masterlow is awesome.

Yes, these plants will in fact make great buds under 24 hours. They do well under 20/4, or 18/6, too, if you need to turn off the lights sometimes. They FLOURISH with tight buds under fluorescents, too!

Really, it does seem to veg for the first two weeks, but then it's all flowering. They can get up to 2 feet tall, and can yield an ounce of bud under great conditions. see the highbred site for more info.

JointDoctor and Mdanzig have the best strains so far, and others just seem to be rip-offs of their work, but some may be doing some similar, and equally quality work now. But these guys make the most stable strains, and they seem to be hermie-free.

Masterlow is awesome.

No revegging, it won't work. You take your seeds and save a male and a female, and produce your own seeds, or keep buying them.

Man, you wouldn't believe how frosty that Masterlow gets, it's awesome.

sounds rather nice. you got a link for a bank which stocks these Masterlow seeds?

No link, but check Dr. Chronic and Seedsman seedbanks. Supposedly SeedBay has some often, at least the Mdanzig Masterlow and Powerstout. I've never used SeedBay, so I don't really know anything about them.

Mdanzig is a quality product breeder. Him and associates are working on a release of a new Bluestreak, which is Masterlow crossed with Blueberry for an automatic flowering plant.

Kind of funny, but right after Mdanzig mentioned his start in development of bluestreak, other guys started working on the EXACT SAME CROSS, like the "Low Life" seeds guys, who, to stop anyone from copping their strains, don't let on to exactly what they are using for parents. EVERYONE KNOWS they are using Mdanzig and Joint Doctor strains as building blocks... Give tribute, dudes!

There is other one that some are raving about called Lowsnow, might be good, but another one that's just "popped up."

There are some other sites that sell knock-off/counterfeits, they could always go hermie, while official Joint Doctor Lowryder types are said to be hermie-free!

There are a lot of other guys with the auto-flowering seeds popping up all the time. Even if they say different, all these specific 10 week strains are descended from the Joint Doctor, and/or Mdanzigs strains, no ands, ifs, or buts.

The auto flowering wont really work for me, I'm set up to take clones from a mother, but would still like a 7-9 week flowering cycle...

got any suggestions on a good strain for that?
Running with 3-4 mothers(haven't decided yet how much room I can give up), taking clippings off of those for a SOG with 24-32 plants(again a space issue).
Started this cycle with a variety of seeds, went for 32 plants, let them get too big and quickly ran out of space...
and now I have already pulled 16 males out, have 6 females for sure, waiting for the rest to flower....only about 9 days into flowering
Was mostly bag seed so I'm not too worried about it, but I do want to order seed here in the next week or so...

Ive posted the same question in a nother thread, but i thought id post it here too for better exposure lol.

Im planning to try 4-5 different autoflowering strains, but with my first batches, ill be breeding each strain for seeds.

I hear that this is fine for LR & LR2, but im concerned about breeding the new crosses popping up. Some say wait a few generations as they are unstable - what does this mean? May some seeds loose their autoflowering traits?

If i breed a lowberry male with a lowberry female wont i get 100% autoflowering lowberry seeds, or is their more to it. Im quite the noob in the area of genitics.

Im interested in the following strains:

Lowryder #2
Diesel ryder

Little Red Ryder Hood > description > Little Red Ryder Hood is a full auto flowering red skunk hair exclusive to dutchbreed, we took a lowryder male and crossed it with a old school skunk red hair then inbred them until we got auto flowering strains, Little Red Ryder Hood is ideal for stealth growing as it has very little odor wile growing only smelling strong when touched or pulled apart, very nice heavy old school stone with the giggles

LowBerry > description > LowBerry is a FULL AUTO flowering blueberry exclusive to dutchbreed, LowBerry is a cross of Dutch passion blueberry mother and a Joint Doctor lowryder male then inbred, gives the best of both smelling more blueberry than the original and full auto flowering can be grown under 24 hours continuous light stays short like LR2 and Masterlow bigger than LR1.

LowMaster > description > LowMaster is a cross of Master Kush (Dutch Passion) crossed with Lowryder (Joint Doctor), inbred repeatedly untill the master kusk had truned auto. This cross is sure to satisfy, as you will notice a strong Kush presence, with the plant 100% auto-flowering. You will also see lots of resin production, plants will finish with medium height, and yield.

The last three can be found at Auto flowering cannabis seeds

So is there any issues i should be aware about reguarding breeding each strain for seeds??

I keep hearing the word unstable, what does this mean? Im guessing that it means some traits may not be passed down, while a stable plant passes on all its traits????

From my understanding (which i undersatand is most likely quite wrong, lol), wouldnt breeding say an AUTO flowering lowberry male with an AUTO flowering lowberry female, just strengthen the AUTO flowering genes???

And if im being sold good auto flowering lowberry seeds, wouldnt the autoflowering genes be quite strong already??

Thanks in advance!
