Autos have the potential to be bigger yeilders than photos.

Well of course ACE genetics are going to be great. All of their stuff is. Some excellent breeding going on with that outfit.

I have their Malawi and am currently growing some of their Golden Tiger. I looked on their website and the only Malawi auto I found was Malawi X Northern Lights. Says it starts flowering in 4-5 weeks and then takes 10 weeks to flower. Not much different than just growing the Malawi photo's and flowering after 4-5 weeks of veg. Regardless, I might grab a 3 pack of that auto for a few outdoor plants to harvest in August.

Nice looking plant by the way. :blsmoke:
Yeah they do have some very interesting genetics bet you could find some amazing phenotypes in there.

Thanks man! That pic was at 63 days old. I ran it until 95 I think.. I think the 10 week flower will be for the sativa leaning pheno. I got the mixed pheno which got very hungry - too hungry for my knowledge at the time haha

Im gonna run one outside this year. Although im at 55’ north so gotta wait for this frost to piss off first

Have you noticed how many just massive budding plants are autos? Just scroll mephheads for a few minutes and every other plant looks like it's got footballs on it.

And it's not just them tons of autos seem to produce just massive buds.

My theory is it's the extra light. They are getting more photosynthesis throughout the flowering process than photos.

Id bet autos will become even more relevant in the future as they are dialed in more and more.
I hate to be that guy but...no. just no all around lol.
Ive grown a couple autos and i still switched the light to 12 12 because they were next to photos and they were still relatively fat colas for height and age compared to the photos. You also can find studies that show there are diminishing returns to adding light hours and processes that go on during night periods that are vital to certain aspects of quality in flower. Meaning you can take an identical pair of plants and veg one 18 hours and one 24 and you won't see a huge growth difference between the 2. The real reason you are noticing this size boost is that autos are bred with ruderalis which is a heavier setting species regardless of light hours. Unfortunately it's also a less potent species for the purposes of most of us looking for high tch etc. Some can be very high in cbd though. I'm sure there are exceptions but i don't grow ruderalis i see it as a lesser beast. The few i grew were freebies i tossed into grows as extra and not one knocked my socks off compared to the photos when it came to the dried product.

I tried growing them previously (abrupt end) but a lot has changed since then.

Now i'm looking for more than yeild, taste/quality/predictability, yeild isn't so important.
Without predictable quality I'm wasting/gambling my money, good phenos are already a rarity without chasing one on every crop.

But that's just me I can understand the attraction of them especially so for less experienced growers/tokers.
^ what he said.

Yeah those buds are way smaller than a lot of the good autos you see going around. Then the second plant wasnt even in flower? Also year long out door grows really have nothing to do with this. Were talking indoor day for day square ft for square ft. Including veg, cloning, etc.
what?
Yep but its started to and its going to yield some pretty large numbers and buds.
what?
No..its not the indoor forum and indoor was not mentioned in the title or the original post by the OP, who was you so you should know better.

You cannot start making stuff up because you were silly in the beginning. But lets look at that again "Were talking indoor day for day square ft for square ft. Including veg, cloning, etc." Commercial grows chase just that and use CLONES of a chosen pheno of a photoperiod plant for a reason....

I didn't mention it, I thought it was common sense.

Of course if we're talking the maximum possible yield a 2 year vegged 5000 gallon outdoor photo tree is going to have a bigger yield than anything an auto could do. Without looking at yield over time that's just masturbation.

None of them have tried, no real experiments have been done on anything like this, and the commercial scene is really slow to change. Look how many are still running HPS especially a year or two ago.

It's not 2012 anymore. we've got autos in the 30%+ region, plants finishing in 70 days from seed to harvest with massive colas.

If you can't see where they are headed you're blind.

It's not about growing big buds from seeds. It's about growing perpetual. An auto will NEVER yield as much as a photos because they can't be run perpetual.

Autos were intended for outdoor use in temperate climates. I use them but I'm not saying they yield more because the evidence show otherwise. Cheers!

What 2 year vegged plant? where are you coming up with this stuff...
Lots of people use autos outdoor. its what they are suited for.

look whatever m8.

what is the quickest photo strain you've run from seed/clone to harvest?
I do them all the same, mostly. Seed in paper towel. 21 to 24 days later, 12/12. I trigger 12/12 when they are maybe 4 inches tall and I get this...every time. Different strains obviously have very different flower structure, but you'll get the point:

It's also worth noting that these results will be achieved equally well starting the seedlings on a 12/12 cycle from day 1. So, it kind of disputes what some of you are saying.
