Now that I know what it is, I believe in the non-aggression principle and I also believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I still believe there would have to be police, unless you can think of a better alternative to law enforcement. I just believe some of the laws should change and the police shouldn't be arresting people for buying or selling drugs. People should not get in trouble for using drugs or possessing drugs.
I think there's far more stupid people in the world than smart, people are populist (no pun intended) and their fickle support for stupid ideas moves faster than the tides.
When the Internet was inaccessible to the "unwashed masses" your idea couldve worked because simply using the Internet was an IQ test in itself (with the use of the word "nerd" frequently used to describe then Internet users) BUT since the advent of Bebo/Facebook, would you really let the "Give this picture of a retarded baby 1 billion likes or you're the devil" crowd have ANY say in politics?!
There are some ignorant people out there and they wouldn't be forced to vote on the online government but they too would be able to vote. I would still rather see the people vote rather than the elites pulling all the strings on the puppets/politicians.
I also believe the majority of people would make the right decisions. The doctors and scientists would write up the pros and cons of all the decisions to be voted on. I'm sure most of the people would vote on what has the best pros and the least cons, but that's just My opinion. There would also be checks and balances, so that even if the majority of people said murder could be legalized, it wouldn't be because of the checks and balances. I was pondering the notion that maybe it would have to be a 2/3rds majority rules for a law to be passed. So about 66% of the population would have to vote in order for the final outcome to be implemented.
I just believe an online government would be the best form of governance that the population could ask for. Besides the checks and balances, it would put all the power in the people hands. Its worth a shot anyways. Can you think of a better way to govern the people? I cant.
