Hi all,

I've been debating whether or not I should completely change my setup or just stick with what I have. Right now, I have a small 24"x30" tent that I use to keep a couple of mothers in and then veg and flower in a cabinet that I built in a closet in the garage which is slightly larger than the tent with more headroom. The setup that I have right now works well for me and gave me 8 oz. dried and cured bud this past grow. It gave me plenty to last a few months, but now I would like to setup something that will run a little more efficient and possibly flower out a couple different strains. I have a huge space that is not being used for anything but it is down in my crawlspace. There is nothing down there other than the furnace. It would be very easy to run a coupe of 20 amp circuits down there, which is more than enough power for everything I use. It is climate controlled and paved, and the temperature usually runs between 65F, (18C), and 70F, (21C). By the time I put lights in there, it should end up in the upper 70s-low 80sF, (mid 20sC). There is one problem though. Being a crawl, it has limited headspace but still manages to be 4', almost 5' if I use space between the joists as well. I am familiar with using HST, LST, & SCROG to keep height lower, but I have never grown a plant less than 24" tall. Is it possible to take advantage of this space and use it to flower in, or should I just use it for mothers, clones, veg?

Thanks in advance!

Train them to grow short and wide using LST. These usually end up 30", but more aggressive training would fix that. Have you thought of watering, drain and smell control?IM002125 (1).JPG

Thanks @smokinrav for responding. The only thing that I haven't really put a whole lot of thought into is odor control. In my current flower cabinet, I have a 6" fan and filter that has done well for the past couple of grows. I know it's probably due to be changed. I'm sure that by putting them into the crawl will make the house smell more than if grown out in the current situation, but originally I flowered inside the house. I did have some smell back then, but most people I talk to know that I grow, some of them grow themselves and are used to some smell when they come over which is fairly rare anymore.

As for water and drain, I plan on starting out with a bucket on a 4 wheel cart until I can plumb things out. Water is very easily accessed in the crawl. Unfortunately, the only way to set up a drain would be to put in an evacuation pump. I could do that without much of a problem, but for me, it's just easier to use a bucket for waste water.

If I were you I would do a no till living soil bed SOG with a short stocky indica that doesn't stretch too much. Living soil you don't water until runoff so you don't have to worry about the drainage thing really. With SOG if you veg clones for a week and cut off the side branching you'll have a bunch of short plants with fat nugs on top. Looks like you've already got the mother keeping thing down so you're half way there.
