Bagseed question

I have a question about the 2 plants I have flowering now (2.5 wks). They are from bagseed and I was wondering since they are being grown indoors (kept from being pollinated) shouldn't it be more potent than the original? This will make a difference no?

Also, I just changed out my lighting from 2- 200W (actual) 5000k CFL's to 2-150W HPS hid's and 2-100W HPS hid's. In short: 400W CFL's to 500W HPS hid's. My question on this is will I see a marked improvement on growing or am I too late in the grow for it to matter? As I said, I'm 2.5 wks into flowering. Thanks for any answers!

Bagseed genetics are a crap shoot to begin with. They should be better quality grown in a controlled situation. You will see a marked improvement in the flowering as a result of the better lighting. Good luck with that.

I have just harvested my bagseed girls, and they are twice as good as the stuff they came from because when they are grown indoors they get specific care instead of being planted in the field and left to grow as they will. Your lighting should make a difference because the cfls you were using were pointless. 5000K is a useless spectrum of light. You need 6500K for veg and 2700K for flower. Not trying to be rude, I bought 2 cases of 42 watt cfl before I realized that they were crap. About the only thing that spectrum is good for is cloning, and its not even great for that but it will work.

I know one thing, the new lights are sure enough bright as a sum biatch. Makes me think I need to get a second fan to have running as a backup cause if the one I have goes my plants will be toasted.

I love the guys that say bag seed is shitty genetics. Somewhere there are a hundred mexicans going hey now that we have a hundred acres to grow on and a good connect to move this weed lets plant shitty seeds. IDIOT

Mex weed is absolute shit as an AZ resident all we got here is mexican stuff. Mexicans grow whatever survives not what tastes or feels good. BUT I do say that if you took the seeds and regrew it indoors it would be 10x better than it was when you got it.

When I said Bag seed Genetics were a crap shoot I was referring to the unpredictable nature of growing them out. You could plant 6 and have 6 different strains all requiring what they want.

Ermm, I'm an idiot too :-( I think its possible that bagseeds are bad genetics and you could waste 3 or 4 months selecting them. Why would people? Oh, cos they are free. okay, why else?

Nothing wrong with bagseed. If you enjoyed the smoke bagseed will grow you some more of the same. Better, if you dry and cure it properly. Good luck.

i have og bagseeds
no diff than the seed bank breeder, if you pull a seed outta good bud
youll prolly grow good bud....bag seed isnt its own bloodline.
its just simply a seed you pulled outta one of your purchased bags..

i kind of like it because its free and u never know what u will get but one possible drawback is different strains might have diff needs
and one bag could hold many different strains

It depends what you are after and if you grow a lot and can use lots of free seeds then best of luck of course. I'm sure there isn't a guarantee that a produced seed will be the same as the original plant, that's a bit complicated but of course depends on the original strain. Basically there will be more variation in characteristics/phenotypes with f2 seeds than an f1 for example.

I know what you mean about ending up with 2 different types from the same bag. Had 4 seeds 3 were indica dom and 1 was obviously sativa dom. 1 of the indica's was the only male. However, I eventually gave away the sativa female because it just wasn't growing well. I'd imagined that was because sativa's are more suited for outside am I right? Anyway, the 2 fem indica's I have left are looking very very good so hpefully I got some good ones.

A bagseed is something that was pollinated so no it is not the same from a breeders seed. They know what they are breeding the seeds with unlike the bagseeds no one knows what pollinated it.

It does seem a waste of time and resources given that good seeds are so readily obtainable. However, this being my 1st grow, I wanted to gain some experience before jumping in with both feet. So, now that I have done a fair amount of that, my next grow will most definitely be the "right one baby". :) I do need a somewhat forgivable strain though as the conditions are good but not great where I grow. Temps stay a bit high as well as humidity and I have no way to supplement w/ Co2. Any suggestions??

dunno man...dont know what your specifics are...keep the fresh air comin in as cool as you can any way you can...lots of air movement and fans....i have a big portable air conditioner to keep mine cool....but my room is 40 cubic feet....they make air conditioners that you put ice water in that are pretty cheap....as far as strains im growing blue haze, chronic, sour kush, and sharksbreath...blue haze is a big yielder that smells great and has more sativa type colas...sour kush smells and tastes just like a lemon peel thru my vaporizer...and sharksbreath is the sweetest ive even seen or tasted....but i dont know how they would react under heat above 85 degrees....

Okay, I have to say it's been 4 days since the switch from cfl to hps. Can I tell a difference? Holy shit yes!! Absolutely amazing watching the transformation of these girls. I'm a happy convert now fer sure!
