Ballast 600W

Hey all-
I just received a light I got on flea bay. The seller was pretty "non-descript" but made it appear the ballast included was correct for the light...
Plug end does not match a single receptacle on the PS. IS HPS a special plug type? I have never seen this type of plug before, Will the ballast I have work if I change the power cord on the light or do I have to get a different ballast for the initial ignition of the bulb???

I pic would be nice..........your saying the plug that goes into the wall receptacle doesn't fit?? If so you need to open the ballast and see if it's multitap (can run on diff voltage) different colors (should be labelled) and match your house plug voltage/then you can strip off the old plug and put on the new one...If it's not multitap , then it MUST be run at the SET voltage and it's appropriate included plug......

edit: i've given this info assuming that you have a magnetic ballast (doh!).....if digital/electronic ballast I would not alter anything and get the appropriate ballast for your household current...

It is a nextgen ballast but it does not have a plug receptacle to fit the light. It needs one like this:

If you zoom the image it is the btm right view, rectangular receptacle on right corner.

Best I can tell- I think the plug on the lamp fixture is a "SUN" plug type? I think that is what I saw one that has the same plug end called.

duh......either stoned or stupid for the past 3 hrs.... Weird thing is - if you look at the pins you would never figure it out. Look at the outside of the plug and the back of the power supply and it plugs right in.
