Ballast

Ok so I'm preparing to grow a single plant to see if i can do it before i grow more. I've been doing a lot of research on here. After reading that hps bulbs are good for both veg and flowering,I found a 100 watt bulb for $22. But what kind of ballast should i get? what kind of ballasts do you use for stealth grows?

grow more than one, what if it turns out to be male? You just wasted a couple months for nothing.

yeah. i plan to grow more than one and after i 'sex' them keep like 1-2 and give the rest to my buddy. I'd appreciate pics of ballasts and stuff that i need to use these type of bulbs.

well you can get a 150 watt hps floodlight for around 75 bucks ballast and all. The only thing is the ballst gets hot so you might want to make it a remote ballast which isn't too hard to do. It would be easier buying the flood light instead of buying everything seperately

well to the best of my knowledge you want a metal halide for vegging as it promotes more of the blue spectrum to grow. hps for flowering as it has more of the red spectrum...as far as obtaining a ballast, 1000lightbulbs.com has a nice selection of lights and I think they carry ballasts, 1 plant I would go with CFLS for vegging and a 250 hps for flowering, hope this helps alittle, good luck

I think i might end up going with CFL's throughout. Isn't "daylight" for veg and softlight for flower?

Whatever you choose, don't forget about ventilation. Even CFL's put out enough heat to matter (depending on the confinement of your growspace).

oh I know. I already have the ventilation all set up except for a fan.
