Basic Tips for Cooking with Cannabis

Most of the listed methods will suffice. However, the chlorophyll will transfer. Even with the more advanced equipment like the Magic Butter Machine.
Here's the trick folks.
1. Purchase high proof ethanol "Everclear" will do.
2. Place your product of choice in a Mason jar.
3. Pour the ethanol into a separate Mason jar.
4. Place both jars into the freezer for 24hrs.
5. Remove both jars and lids.
6. Pour the ethanol into the jar with product.
7. Place the lid on the jar and gently swirl/swish, allowing the ethanol to saturate the plant material.
8. Place back into the freezer for 5 min.
9. Remove from freezer and pour contents into a huge glass container and be sure to use coffee filters to filter out unnecessary material.
10. Repeat step 9, 3 times to clarify ethanol thc mixture.
11. Place into your method of choice (slow cooker, double boiler, etc) and place outdoors for proper ventilation.
12. Monitor substance and allow for the ethanol to boil off for edibles or leave it in liquid state to be used as a tincture.
13. If using equipment such as the (Source Turbo), 95% of your ethanol can be saved for future runs.

These techniques will provide you with golden colored product w/o the chlorophyll and other plant matter.
Cheers

I used to water cure my plants and then dry them to make my tinctures, oils and edibles. It worked really really well

yes, and the more times you do it the more the affects will change to a more narcotic high. I would take my dish out and freeze it and do it over to taylor the affects to what I wanted.

I feel it helps it bond to the oil better. I can't remember what got me started on that but I always had good success. so much so that I would store my final pre dosed oil in the freezer and I swore I thought it improved with time, probably helped with bioavailability

after the final freeze, when you feel like using the oil, do you let it thaw out, or lightly cook it?

once I was finished with it I would divide in 1 and 2 ml doses in small syringes and store in freezer. Take out when ready to consume, stick under some warm water, in a pocket, on something warm, whatever. Doesn't take long for pre dosed oil to turn to liquid.

Newbie and old head here. Been making infused peanut oil for use in brownies for years and I never decarb first. I put the ground up plant in the pan with the oil and cook at around 180ish for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours depending on how much I’m making. Then I cook in the brownie mix according to directions-usually 350 for a half hour. Brownies are always awesome! Just wondering though if decarbing in the oven first will make them stronger?

I came here to learn and don't know much but have ALWAYS been told decarboxylation makes it better. From scientist to hippies most of them agree. I would try it out,. can't hurt

the decarbo......... turns thca ( thc a for acid )which the naturel state of the bud to drop the acid part ( no pun intended ) to just straight thc
now you get the most bng for your bud

Anyone here ever decarboxylate the oil and not the weed. In this case, you infuse the oil (without decarbing the bud), then, decarboxylate the oil using a pyrex dish in the oven at, say, 250F????

The only time the weed- oil gets " decarbed" is when I have both stewing in the crockpot. I've never understood why anybody cooks the weed beforehand..the weed gets decarbed in the crockpot and again in the oven when you are cooking the final product.

I fill a crockpot up with trim and small undesirable buds.. pour in a gallon of olive oil or coconut oil... Then I fill to the top with water.. I put it on low for several hours and then I unplug it.. next morning I stir it up and put it on low for several hours again..

Then I let it cool for a couple hours and strain it into a couple large bowls and toss it in the freezer... The next day I scrape out the frozen water at the bottom of the bowls and I'm left with infused oil.
