Beer is a growers friend... in more ways than one

Seamaiden.. It is full of good stuff (including some B vitamins - thanks to the yeast), now I wouldn't drain the res. and use straight beer. But I have been using left over party favors for years.
.
Sometimes, I pour just a few ounces into a pot. Other times I pour all of it into a clean 5 gallon bucket, throw in some worm castings, rabbit poop or bat guano & fire up the air pump. Bubble, Bubble, Bubble - I don't toll & it's no trouble.
.
Last week, I mixed up some, Bubweiser, Coors & a few Red Dogs's - about a gallon total - threw in a cup of worm casting & away I bubbled. Watered it in on two Skunks - pics link below my signature. They were 5 feet tall & 2 1/2 feet wide - Now their 4 feet wide. Sorry for the shitty pictures, I'm new to digital cameras & their software. My daugher is trying to teach this old dog a new trick.
.
Attention young growers & newbies - before high dollar hydro store goodies - we grew killer weed. Hell, we still do. Their is no replacement for experience. Beer is a Soil Amendment - I know, since GH, Foxfarm or Botanicare doesn't bottle it & charge you 20 bucks a pint for it - it's hard to believe - But Believe It.
.
Sorry, to ramble their Seamaiden... I dig your Avatar & like your questions / post. At some point, maybe Generaton X will get back to basics. Light, Water, (min) fertilizers (organic), CO2 provided by mothernature & TLC....
.
Keep it Real...Organic...
.
No worries there! I ramble on and on and on. :D I'm growing outdoors, potted, soil. But I think I can use it still. I have got to get a fix on local worm castings (or, bite the bullet and make a place to start growing my own worms). We already compost, recycle, and burn the paper trash, so we've made our "footprint" a good bit smaller. To make it smaller and less wasteful still is an excellent prospect in my mind. I get tired of pouring out the rest of the beer when doing the recycling, this means I'll have something to do with it.

Oh yes, thanks for the av compliment, it's a graffiti work in... in St. Louis I think (I nicked it from a guy who was kind enough to put it up).

Wait a minute, Mrs. McGreggor! You're growing those ONLY with beer? Looks like a strong ale or stout, too. My husband (when he f'ing brews) makes a BOMB peach heffeweizen. I don't normally care for beer, the hops are just too bitter for my taste. But he keeps the hops level low and oh MAN is that some tasty stuff! :D

ok ok ok I cheet..
they get wine to....
last week strawberry...
when the beer is out then its Blackberry wine...
thats a german dark beer.
I should add.... have not added to the soil amendments but I can see the merit.
the wiskey kegs were lined with a thick crust of wine. I read an read then spoke to Earl.
he said wine and beer were great for plants. so to leave the resido in the keg.
but to be honest the babys of mine have been eatting a steady diet of bannanas molassis
and apple juice being PHed with coffee and a little bit of MG {cuz thats all I had}
but will be putting all the hops and refuse in the mulch pile for future use as well as all
the refuse from all the wines and apple pulp left from when the apple wine season gets into swing.

I should add I found a recipe for cannabis wine.... hummmmmmmmmmmmm
that could be interesting

YOU can grow with beer..
am using 20 gallons for just 2 plants
and 2 clones.
THEY love it....
opp's ya mean da drink it......
........nevermind.........
.
Oh I see, your using the CO2 generated by your brew to feed them extra CO2. Good for pumping up the buddage. Very clever... + rep for you cross platform mental skills..... Brewing & Growing...
.
Now...that's Organic....:)

Recycling & Art, both good things. Your probably doing the artist a great service. Some people might see it in St. Louis...but allot of people will see it here. It's a win, win deal.

Can you source any scientific data to back up your claim? What 17 microorganisms? I could see maybe the carbonation being beneficial by oxygenating the water... I wouldn't pour a beer right onto the soil, though, I'd feel better mixing it in the reservior like everything else I feed my plants.

I wouldn't expect to try this with Steel Reserve or Budweiser... more like a local organic microbrew if at all.
Just what I would like to see- Scientific facts, not hearsay.

Yes folks.. In every crowd, there is always that one guy who says...Prove It, Prove It...I need to see proof. OK, heres your proof, be prepared for allot, I mean allot, of dry, techinical reading...Sir, Nay Sayer....
.
Now, as long as I have been alive - I have never seen a sign posted in the middle of the Highway saying " Do not park here " cause some idiot talking on a cell phone, driving a 4 ton SUV will slam into you & surely kill your a**.
.
Some things are just obvious. Apply some common sense & think a bit, and the answer presents itself. You don't really need a PhD for most things. Or then again maybe you do.
.
You need others to PROVE IT.. OK... enjoy...

If that is not enough, I guess you will have to just be left unsatisfied.

Now, If you would have said.. Ohsogreen could you please direct me to some helpful links about Beer. I would have gladly done so, and allot more graceously...

You have taken my post in completely the wrong way. I want facts so that I can learn from it at understand it. Maybe 'hearsay' was the wrong word to use. All I meant by my post was that I would just like to know the details, I wasnt asking you to prove your statement.:joint:

Yes .. Woomeister... The "hearsay" comment made it sound sassy & did hit me wrong. Heck, Mary Jane is a weed. In nature, she gets all she needs without our help. I don't wear a lab coat to work & doubt most people here do.
.
A few years ago, when I first got on the internet, I found a link about 101 uses for Beer. A soil amendment was one of them. I thought, how neat. Makes sense, it's mostly water, has some vitamins in it, a few micro-beasties - I'll give it a try.
.
Every gathering at my house, always provides a few unfinished beers. For fun, I started watering in the beers, to see what happened. To my suprise, Skunks in particular, really seem to love it. The ones I gave a drink of beer, grew bushier than the non-alcoholic Skunks.
.
I tought on the lighter side, some growers might get a kick out of this info..
One of those strange but true type things. As far as exact brands, or mixing formula's to use. I can not help you. Just pour some in, if you dare, & let your own eyes show you it works...
.
Let's keep this light & fun.... not confrontational.....
.
In the interest of Peace... I declare a truce...........:)

I would be a little worried as I am growing in hempy buckets so there would be a reservoir of beer! At least in soil it is absorbed so on reflection I dont think I will.

My friend is on a liquid diet due to his jaw being wired shut... I gave him a AVBC beer (Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema) last night specifically because the micro bugs and live Brewer's Yeast are good for his lower intestinal tract. I think I'll pour a Red Tail Ale into my watering reservior tonight and see how the girls like it. They are outdoor, in soil. I'll report back if I see any major changes tomorrow.

Oh green never mentioned he was throwing beer into hempybuckets. Any fool would know not to poor beer into hydro. But soil might be diff. Genius. Maybe micro organicism and shit that I don't know about fool.

I believe it. It sounds pretty interesting to me, I might try it on one of my plants and see how it does.
