Just wondering what everyone thinks is the best time of day to chop down for harvest. I heard alot of things and I'm harvesting in a few weeks.

Last time I was told, by the old ganja guru at my hydro shop, that cannabis is like a fruit and you should chop 3/4 into your light cycle, when its at its ripest?

Some people have said to let sit in darkness for 2 days without light, thus the plant thinks its dying and puts all energy into trying to pollinate.

I've also heard it doesn't matter when you chop, day or night?

Any input would be appreciated.

I believe the time of day shouldn't matter, but they should have been in the dark for atleast a couple days at the point of chop'em up. The complete darkness extended in this manner makes the plant think something is wrong and it tries to compensation for the adverse envirnoment by changing chemistry and adverting all of its energy to save its flowers/buds.

Atleast this has been my experience, I wish I could remember where I first read about this - probably the old OverGrow site.

Im in suspense. A flowering plant sitting in a dark room for 2 days straight doesn't sit well with me.

just chop the fuckin thing the minute you see that it is ripe. you will never be able to change how potent your crop is in a few hours or 2 days of dark, come the fuck on. the 3-4 months prior to the "chop" are whats important. jeeeez. late

That's what I'm thinking at this point.... There is no real know facts as to why one way is better than another.

Thanks for all the replies.

Me personally before I chop I like to do a little dance then sing a little song then sharpen the axe.

ive read that the best time to chop is right before the lights come on because when its in darkness it sends all the nutrients and stuff to the roots and then when the lights come on it sends the nutrients throughout the plant for photosynthesis

...and don't forget the live animal sacrifice as a gift to the grow gods!

Seriously though, and I'm no expert, I doubt there is noticeable differences what light cycle you start chopping. I have pondered this question myself though.

I've tried it both ways, even compared buds under 10x magnification.
absolutely no difference. I say chop 'em when they're ripe.
