Beleaf Chimera #3

Yup this is the one. That's why I thought it would be good to actually document it. So far I've been impressed by the plant. Is it worth $10k? Not in this day and age. During prohibition times I could see someone paying that. I would only pay $10k if I had a facility and got exclusive rights to the plant for a specific time.
I feel that.

How is the yield? Usually the exotic looking low leaf plants don’t yield that great, best one for yield so far for me has been oreoz..
Looks like it will be just over an oz from the 1 gallon pot which isn't too bad considering I did 0 topping and letting it grow naturally. I got her starting week 4 in the flower room so we'll find out in 5 weeks how she really performs. Oreoz throws down those chunky nugs for sure. I'll post a side by side photo comparing the two in a day or so.

Here's the smoke report. Smoked it out of a joint and the high was slightly above average. I guess people would file it under "daytime" smoke. I really like my highs to have power to it. Make me engaged in what I'm doing, make me laugh, make me sociable, or make me relaxed. Those are the types of highs I seek and didn't really get any of that. I hit the joint; I have that high feeling on the temple of my head but that's about it.

Pros
  • Great growth
  • Easy to clone
  • Amazing bag appeal
  • Nice nose. It finished with a semi orangey/maple syrup type smell
  • Nugs are unique with spirling foxtails
  • Easy to trim
Cons
  • High is lacking that punch. You look at the nugs and want it to deliver that special high but it falls short of getting there.

I'm going to keep this plant around for breeding. I really enjoy the plants structure and trichome density but the high needs to be improved. If you can cross a chem or haze into it I think you would have a good combination.

Thanks again for all the detailed info. Does the Oreoz provide that high you are looking for compared to the chimera?

Just smoked the cured bud from the 3 gallon plant and the high was way better. I guess the best way to describe it is a clear head high. Kinda like a shot of caffeine as well. I was able to clean my aeroclones that I've been slacking on and take care of some other house chores. High lasted about 2.5-3 hours with a nice come down. I'll be keeping her a bit longer. I have one coming down in a 5 gallon soon so excited to see what she's like then.

From what I read sounds like disappointment and over hyped. I will be moving to flower in a week or two. Do you know how many PPM you maxed out at??? What kind of light and how many watts?? I will be using GH Flora series and as much LED as they can handle. Have grown GG4 for last 8 years and was told when I got it that I would never find better for strength and grams per watt dried.

I'll be pulling down one today that was grown in a controlled environment. Her structure and bud density look on point.

I don't know my ppms but I grow under 1000w of HLG boards spread across a 8x4 space. I've been growing GG4 myself for awhile and I would say the glue is stronger. I can't comment on yield yet as this is my first time finishing her in a 5 gallon but will update the thread in a week or so. From looks alone she looks like a big yielder. Below are some pictures of her.

All I can say is try her and see how you like it. She's been growing on me and I'll be keeping her around for awhile. The only downside for your garden I would say is that your garden has glue and a glue cross so the genetic diversity is low.

When I saw $10K for a cut, I was hoping for best in world, although copycat was trying to sell seeds for $2500. Sad Joesy did not make a dime, and gave GG4 away. I picked up a lot recently. Fatso, MAC1, Chimera #3, Bruce Banner #3, Piff City #3, Chemdawg #4, Gush Mints, GMO Cookies. Also someones pick of Copycats Oreo Big Stuff and Rainbow MAC. Chemdawg #4 came with 2 spot spider mites and fan spread to all plants and have been fighting for 2 months. Neem i was using must have gone bad. Must have bought 7 years ago.

The first pictures look incredible, but it looks like one of the lowest yeilding plant I’ve ever seen.
Maybe the pics don't do her justice but I'm predicting around 4oz's which would be above average in my garden. I'll update the thread with dry weight when I have the numbers.

I think such a high price tag on her tainted her which is unfortunate. Glad you picked up some older strains. I think they offer better highs than the new ones. I have a Lambsbread cut that still blows any hype/new out of the water and she's over 10 years old and free.

For the spider mites I found purecrop1 at 1oz per gallon with an application rate of once a day for a week then every other day for the second week worked or you can use SNS217 which works even quicker but might be a bit harsher on the plants. I use an electric paint sprayer to apply. Hope you can beat them soon.

LGND is that the Chimera 3 against the door in post #31? That looks like a great smoking and yielding plant to me. Great job.
Yeah she is. She stretches pretty good once you flip her. I top all my plants when I flip them into flower and she still got that tall. I've given her to a few peopke and they all liked her smoke a lot.
