I'm thinking about building my own controller. Has anyone built or used the Aqua-hub DIY kit?

Yeah. I have two of them. Very high quality kit, easy instructions. I bought my second one about 6 months after the first and they made several changes to make it better. That is a sign on a quality company.

Gave the controller a name Pro-Gro and yes building and selling them on request. They will out preform any and all EBB controllers thats a big statement but i have the facts and proof. All my controllers are hand built in the USA and made to last. any questions pm me

What is the Cost...? Kudos on the adjustable floats! That is money for sure, especially if using to control a DWC set up.

PM sent legally The Seconds timer is adjustable from 1 to 999 seconds this is set for how long you want your buckets to stay full The Minute timer is adjustable from 1 to 999 minutes this is set for how long between cycles.

I'm actually running my control bucket in reverse on DWC buckets. Always full then drains once a day for 45 minutes to a reservoir with chiller on a timer. Can yours do that?

yes it can i would have to use 2 minute timers to get you there

It would be really close in price with a pro gro pick up your own buckets and i would suggest using UNI seals not grommets

FYI... I built a 12 site, 4 gallon bucket system for around $175. I used the aquahub controller, food grade 4 gallon square buckets off of craigslist ($1 a piece), 3/4 main feed lines with 3/4>1/2 T's to the individual net pots and square net pots from ebay or HTG.. I got 18 of them for around $25. Took maybe two hours to build but it works awesome and doesn't leak.

I actually have two whole buckets systems, one in flower and one in veg room. What I really like about the 4 gallon buckets (and you could do this with any buckets) is that when doing an ebb and flow system, you can grow in a bucket placed inside the buckets that are being flooded. So I have 18 plants vegging in my DIY tent, then after about 4 weeks I pick the best 12, cull the rest to make more room and after another couple weeks, pick the buckets up and move them into my flower room. Very little down time.

I eventually moved to a similar set up, just DWC because dealing with that much hydroton is a real pain in the ass...and the back.

Just be aware of the risk you and many more have taken that you have 110 volts going to your float switchs any crack break etc may kill you (electrocuted)

That is risk is worth the extra $250 in my pocket Besides, 110 is not all that powerfull and the controller does have a GFCI unit on it. I say it is not that powerful because I shocked myself once on my bucket system when I was moving the floats around and had some wiring exposed.

Normally its the amps that kill, hence why you have stun guns with such unspeakable voltages that manage *usually* not to kill people.

Sorry dude, I'm not buying it. There is more risk screwing around with my ballasts than there is working with my control bucket. Your controller sounds sweet, it's just 3x as expensive as other manuals

Chances are, your ballast does present more risk. I have a magnetic one, that I got in a kit no less. so yea, I know if I get stupid I'll easily end up dead.

True enough, the magnetic ones are quite a bit more hazerdous. I can recall that when I wired a new 220 circuit pumping almost 40 amps (3600 digital ballast watts) that I went into my grow room and was using a left over piece of wire to move my hood a little bit. Well I just about shit my pants when the end of the wire touched the hood and ZAPP!! there was a huge spark and the lights went out. After changing my underwear and ensuring the power was dead I went in to figure out WTF was going on that would manage to energize the fucking hoods!!

As it turns out, the ground wire got smooshed into on of the hot wires in one of the outlet boxes when installing them. The weird thing is that my mutli meter read 220 volts and the digital ballasts fired up just fine. That could have turned out pretty bad but I am cautious to always wear gloves and shoes when working with new power circuits. The only thing that resulted from this mishap is that I manage to arc the hood with so much energy that it actually burnt through the enamal coating and melt a nick in the hood.
