Best Genetics today

Hi All, I have been searching the threads for good NL, Skunk and Afghani strains and I have seen many talk of the best being in the 90's and that many are watered down today. I was looking at Dutch Passion, Sensi, and Greenhouse. Many of the reviews were bad or negative today for them. For those with experience with the ones from the 90's, where should I look for those best genetics? I am willing to spend good money for good genetics, but most reviews for sensi and dutch passion were not that good. And also the best bank to get them from too.

Forget real skunk. It's over. Sadly. Northern Lights? Definitely AK Bean Brains.

Symbiotic Genetics
Dynasty Genetics

There's 2 pushing quality genetics. Forget Dutch Passion. In fact forget Europe. After the big raid a couple of years ago that supply chain is broken. Not only did cops snag Dinafem and a bunch more big names but they went down the line popping smaller growers subbing. Nobody has a greenhouse complex running a thousand strains. They buy from small growers using their genetics.

Now is the time to start buying American from Americans. Before I hear from the peanut section most of you were conceived when your parents were high on bud we brought in from Mexico.

Seattle Greg is the original source for NL. He recently shared some of his old stock with Todd McCormick (agseedco.com) who did a reproduction of NL2 and NL5. Pretty sure the NL2 is still available on his site. Closest to the original available atm, although I believe Seattle Greg is currently working with Riot Seeds at a more extensive reproduction from a much larger stock than Todd had to work with. You can find an interview with Seattle Greg and Matt Riot on the Breeders Syndicate Podcast.

Todd also has original Skunk1 seeds... another reproduction from old seed stock he got directly from Mel Frank.

Markets flooded. It’s not gone. Just have to find a cut. That’s your best bet. If your in California. You’ll be able to find it easily. I have a spot in Bakersfield that sells cuts of butter og and Tahoe that are identical to the 2010 strain. I’m building my entire outdoor stock around it next year. But they’re ‘hole on the wall’ slot you would never find unless showed and referred to. If your in Cali. The travel is worth it.

Sound like you are chasing nostalgia. Sometimes the memory of something being better than it is just that. Some of these strains were fire in the 90/00's era, but cant hold a lit match to newer varieties. Good luck on your search, hope im wrong.
So much this.

In every hobby I've been in nostalgia blinds people. Their old subs "shook the pavement on 50w" "our skunk stank so bad you could smell it two towns over"

The problem is smell and taste aren't quantifiable.
Most that shit would barely pass as mids these days.

Check out Karma's OGs/sours, I've never been disappointed by one of his strains. I like 90s strains too and grow them out when I find a promising candidate. AKBB has a lot of old strains I'd like to try, as others have mentioned. I'll be growing out his Deathstar soon.

I've got to disagree on just nostalgia. I've had a few growers who had strains that each and everyone was a perfect match to the name it had. They must have had a great supplier for cuts or really hunt. Anyways true ww, true la confidential, true c99, Hindu Kush, trainwreck, headband, etc. Sure some were stronger THC or flavor but was exactly as you'd read on the info of what it should have been. These guys shut down over a decade ago and the timing seems like alot of the genetics also have been getting flooded or something. You can find great genetics still but things have changed alot. A ton of ppl are about the new name, bag appeal, ig hype and high THC when this plant has alot more to offer than just the new new. Instead of patience perfection and work alot of people want to pop 5-10 seeds get the kill pheno of it and then alot of people who do hold these genetics don't wanna share because they've put in work of holding it and can still sell their shit for what old prices were. Just my opinion on it. I to am in search of roadkill gas and way overpaid for some hyped up seeds but hey what ya gonna do hopefully I pop a winner!

The humorous and ironic part of your comment is those exact strains you call mids are what they are going to inject into the current wave to save it from stagnation. Respect the eldercuts.

@thenotsoesoteric Exactly, all these new strains are just washed up polyhybrids of polyhybrids of polyhybrids x1000. They looks good, taste good but they missing deepness in high.

Ngl Im guilty too of buying into the hype and I like having those frosty dank plants in garden but if it comes to high they aint shit most of the time. Im gonna finish what I got going on now, switch to flower donny burgers f4 and then rest of a year its gonna be sativa doms from mass medical strains and skunk x widow from uk420 subbies.

I bought several nirvana strains a year or so ago that I'm gonna hunt through as soon as I get space.

Pure power plant, snow white, mango skunk and papaya. Figured I just want to get away from runtz/gelatos.

If you get a winner in mango skunk let me know and I'll bring my top and we can burn some down. I'm a sucker for ultra citrus sweet strains
