So I made the mistake of ordering hydrohuts pro grow 400 which I will be sending back today due to the negativy that seems to be out there about it! What are my best choices for a small 3x2.5 tent? I heard the area 51 sgs160 might be suitable for that size. Doesanyone concur or have any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

The Hans Panel Check It out at www.bonsaihero.com he has proven results with cannabis and has it documented alot. I can also say great customer service and, he only uses top shelf Led's and the price is pretty decent too.

A51 sgs 160 or xgs 190 or 2 hans panels would be the best choice. i think the a51's will out perform the hans panels. Apache is really good too. They are very expensive though

I see that the area51 190 xgs is out of stock so the 160 would be ideal

I just ordered the Area51 (160) for a small 2x3x5 closet grow (tent). They say light is ideal for that coverage area. $50 discount, free shipping $495.00 out the door. Was in stock shipped out same day I ordered and is due here by Friday! I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion this was best light for my area. The warranty, location (USA), and customer service made me lean toward Area51. Not to mention seeing some nice grows on these boards with people who have a similar setup (area). I think the upfront expense is well worth it (more than half electricity used), no more heat issues, no replacing bulbs all the time. Anyway, I am hoping it will yield as much or close to my 400 in that same area.

I have a pro grow 180 and I have nothing but good things to say about it
You're the only person I've ever seen say that, Strax.
I had one, it was a massive disappointment, I returned it.

So has Ben at Hydroponicshut recovered from the fake Cree LEDs troubles? By looking at the pictures of his website, this Progrow is still assembled with the old PCB and mylar reflector paper, not MCPCB, I am wondering how its thermal management works out, by using big fans producing loud noise, probably no.
If this progrow LED light works out, chinese LED grow lights work and then all LED grow lights work...

BadKarma what were the biggest downfalls of this unit that you found?

They lie about parts used to make the light.
They claim to use 3W LED's, but they only use 1W LED's, and lump 3 of them together, calling it a "3W chip".
The Pro-Grow light I received, when compared to one of my other LED lights of the same wattage, was about half as bright.
It was also a clearly refurbished model from the left over tape residue where it had been held together.
The company and it's product are bad news.

I'm running 5 180W ProSource Illuminators, and an older 180W Area 51 light, (over 1000W total) in my 8x4 flowering tent, at the moment.
It was my Illuminators that I compared the Pro Grow too, it wasn't even close.
My ProSources 1W LED's were multiple times brighter that the Pro Grow's "3W LED chips".
Trust me Sensi, I know what I'm talking about.
I'm one of the founding members of our LED sub-forum, and have been growing with LED's for nearly 4 years.
I also just bought and received a new Area 51 XGS-190, which will be in it's own tent very soon.

Pretty sure he is running a fleet of 'Complexidon' panels.... :)

Now that I'm home, I can add some pics to my claims.

The Pro Grow refurb tape job I mentioned

Here's my 8x4 tent, with six, 180W LED panels (forgive the quality of the phone pic)

Some pics from past crops in the flowering tent

Here's my snazzy new, 5W diode, Area 51 XGS-190

My older, 3W diode, Area 51

Some Cheeseberry grown under that "older" Area 51 light.
