lol, yeah. I just grew some cannabis so I could get high. You people want to make it into a religion. Again, if I was selling, perhaps, but Ive moved to two tents and one harvest of 1/4 plus trim a month is way more than I can consume. Good luck, and OP, decide what you want for an outcome, then you know how much to invest. Im out of this...
Sorry for taking our hobby and in some cases and states, profession, very seriously. Sorry for being well informed and knowledgeable about the topic at hand, about the physics, limitations, properties, and benefits of certain fixtures over others.

Actually, I'm not sorry about any of it. But don't come in here and trash us when we actually know what we're talking about.

Think about it like a car - As long as it drives, you can get from point A to point B. Most cars do the same things, but some do them a little differently. Let's call an HID lamp a muscle car. Eats up fuel, but is fast as fuck at getting you from A to B. Then you've got a Tesla electric car. That's proper COB tech. It's the future of the industry. Then, you've got the cheap LED fixtures... Those are like a Chevy Volt. Has the right idea in mind, but the guts and parts of it don't measure up to what the other stuff on the market can do. If you're ok with investing in sub par tech, fine. I'm not.

Pretty sure he knows that, he's in the LED forum...... Asking about LED.... So....... Maybe he's specifically interested in using LED? Who are you to tell him otherwise?

So you are a commercial grower investing in a business? How will you justify the outlay of startup capital? I understand you have a problem with Mars, yet I am very happy with the results , FOR MY PURPOSES. Yours are obviously different
Hey man az Is just trying to save you some money in the long run.No one is saying they dont work.

I have to admit I havent followed the whole thread but for the most part I think people are just trying to help...there is a quote that comes to mind.

"When you open your mouth you only repeat what you already know, when you open your ears you may learn something new"

Merry Christmas man,happy new year

I'm sorry you're taking it that way. I think the discussion has, for the most part, been objective. It's kind of hard to argue that 40w/sq ft isn't better than 60. Or, that people develop expectations from videos of lights running at 60, and are then disappointed when they run a light at the seller's recommended 37.

I've grown with epi-whatever lights. Smoking your own bud is great no matter how many watts are used, or whether it's dense or airy. I'm sure you'll enjoy your harvest.

My only concern is when someone says they're happy with their light (but haven't passed the critical flowering stage yet). Or, refer people to videos where nobody know how many watts are being used. New growers tend not to think about that stuff. They assume it's all a direct comparison, and whatever the seller recommends is how the lights are being used. But, that's not the case. People run these things as high as 80w/sq ft.

When you work the numbers out like that, T5HO and CMH always come out as more light for less dollars.

But, maybe something has changed. Like I said, there was a national mandate for China's LED industry to improve its reputation. (That alone demonstrates the warning some of us are giving about the lights.). Maybe those improvements are reaching the market now. I wish there was more data about that.

People just have a hard time when they're told that their precious little Mars light is actually fucking junk. They get a little butthurt, and say "Well, IT WORKS FOR ME!". Hence my analogy of a car. It's the Geo Metro of LED tech.

Buy a cooltube just to piss off ole grumpy beard here.....don't worry he'll police the thread.

Hey guy, I'm not paying his power bill, so he can run all the HPS he wants. But obviously, based on the forum he's in, he's not looking to go that route.

What you're literally doing here, is telling the dude who walked into a Ford dealership wanting to check out Fords, and telling him to go buy a Jeep. If he wanted a HPS, he wouldn't be here asking people about LED. There are plenty of things that are perfect for a 3x3, so take your talk of outdated tech elsewhere. Unless you're hanging the bulbs, HPS is on it's way out. You can cling to the ship, but it's taking on water and will lose it's place at the top before long.

If you looked at my lighting system, you'd see I'm more like the guy who builds his vehicle in the Home Depot parking lot:

If it weren't for PVC, I wouldn't know what to do. See:
That's hardly snooty, high-end stuff. Why would we recommend CMH and T5HO if we were hoity toity?

The only people who come off sounding ayran about their lighting choices are the MarsHydro users. They're the ones who seem defensive about the light they own.

In my 3x3x7 tents I just switched from a 600w hps to a 300w go green led light. It is super bright, the ladies love it, and it hardly raises the temp of the tent. I wouldn't buy anything that is a 3070 or 3059 chipset at this point in the LED game. As others have said, if you can afford it - stay away from the cheaper chips and low quality imports.
