Best led for 3x3 tent, help

Just wait until the light fails and you get the run around. Wait you probably bought your light off ebay so 1 year warranty that means your screwed. If you don't have pics it didn't happen. My lights crush Mars and HPS all day

There is a major difference between the lights and you get what you pay for

That's the shit right there. Maybe one day I will get the space to run a monster like that. Nice clean build too.

I think that what everyone is trying to say is that you are more than welcome to use whatever light you want, but if you're going to refute what they said FIRST then you really should be able to supply them with something more than just saying "hey, this shitty light works for me & it will give you the best bang for your buck..."
If you're gna keep saying sumthing like that then you need to be able to at least show sum pics for people to reference...
i dont have to prove anything to any of you but this is a place to discuss this type stuff so i volunteered info just like everyone else. again nobody discredited anyone here but some of you are discrediting mars and the proven results. when you buy stuff you dont just factor in whats best...thats how children and trust fund idiots think...im not a diy kinda guys so id have to absorb the high price the best leds and i dont think its worth it at this very moment. doesnt mean i dont get good results

Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing? I agree with you, there are different ways to look at it. If you're ok with airy buds because it's your meds and you're not showing off maximum product, that's great. (Just like someone using Mars Hydro like HPS @ 90w/sq ft.).

That's your choice and if it works for you, that's great. But, I don't think I'm being exclusive by mentioning these different priorities so others don't confuse Mars Hydro with more efficient LED. (It seems to me you're sensitive to that distinction being made.).
passive aggression...you guys are great man lol

what your doing isnt pushback. we arent having a conversation your trying your best to shit on anyone who doesnt grow how you think they should. we all started growing for the same reasons, better smoke, medicinal, make some money or all of the above. i dont know any seasoned vets that approach the craft how you and others do. in some way this thread reminds me of those growers who couldnt fathom lights other than hids could grow quality weed. nobodys discrediting you or whats factually better or best but to say mars cant get the job done just isnt true no matter how you spin bro
Ok i agree mars gets r done.... just like the horse n buggy (but mars is way worse on the environment)
EDIT:
Ill sell you my mars 900w for cheap· it draws over 500 and will 2x your yield.
It produces more than half as much light as my optic 360w!

i get decent results man...i run a bunch of 3x3 tents with 2 300w old model mars panels in each and get no less than half a pound per harvest....depends on the strain but still....its not the best results but its good
Thanks for providing some numbers. It was a serious request. "Works fine" isn't a good way to quantify a light. I'm not sure why that's a difficult idea.

If your yield and electrical use works for you, I'm happy for you. You could be pulling a lb. from those 3x3s every time with the same wattage, but if it's good enough it's good enough. The thing is, when the thread title is "best LED for a 3x3 tent" it ain't a couple Mars Hydros. I like to think the people looking for lights that start these threads will eventually appreciate being steered away from using lamps with inefficient diodes, and might not mind paying a bit more to grow twice as much in the same space. Is that crazy or what?

I wished that I had research a little more myself. I had already purchased my t5 before I located the RIU community. I have an old hps from back in the day but it was just to hot in the small grow space. DIY is the way to go but that my friends is just my opinion.

Damn @Rahz you are so right but let him think we're crazy. I keep trying to tell him I felt the same way about Mars until they failed me

At first I was going with Mars but after a month of research I'm leaning toward the two diy setups.

2x4 Tent
@61.2%
(5) CXB3590 3500K CD 36V @ 1.05A (35.5W ea) $237.50
(1) HLG-240-C1400
177.5 dissipation W -> 68.9W heat ->
passive cooled heatsink 8268cm² -> 4.9"X36" $70
or
active cooled heatsink 2756cm² -> 3.5"X36" heatsink (for spread) $45 + 80mm fan + psu $10
(5) lenses $20
108.63 PAR W covering 6ft² =
$392.50 = $3.61/PAR W passive cooled
$377.50 = $3.48/PAR W active cooled

Or 3x3 tent
@64%
(8 ) CXB3590 3500K CD @ 700mA (23W ea) $380
(1) HLG-185H-C700 $65
184 dissipation W ->66W heat ->
passive cooled heatsink 7920cm² -> 4.23"X44" $68 3 units
or
active cooled heatsink 2640cm² -> 3.5"X36" heatsink (for spread) $45 + 80mm fan + psu $10
active cooled heatsink 2640cm² -> 1.8"X44" heatsink $34 + 80mm fan + psu $10
(8 ) lenses $32
117.8 PAR W covering 6ft² = 879 PPFD
117.8 PAR w covering 7ft² = 754 PPFD
$545 = $4.63/PAR W passive cooled (great option if your area is high electrical cost, Hawaii, NYC, SoCal etc or if your grow is already heat limited and you want to increase yield without running more AC, ducting and fans)
$532 = $4.52/PAR W active cooled 3.5"
$521 = $4.43/PAR W active cooled 1.8"

I could also grab the CXB 3070s but that 5% light difference could play a role during flowering.
I want dense nugs fuck all the bullshit.

@fatneal Mars lights have very low yields and noisy and produce heat. You can't hear my lights at all because the fan I use is only 28 dba. My 400w panel is more powerful than the Mars II 1600

Could you help me out I'm seeking a low heat low noise setup for 5'x2' pvc and panda film tent. Thanks
