I would go with a sativa dominant strain. I chose strawberry cough for this reason. I have found Skunk number 1 to do the trick along with haze.

I hate to be so blunt as to come across as being rude but the LAST thing he needs if he is having panic attacks is a sativa or sativa dominant strain. That is the type of high that causes panic attacks.

What he wants is an indica or indica dominant strain. That is what gives you that total laid back calming body and mind buzz instead of the soaring cerebral high that a sativa gives.

One good option would be the one directly below.

Green House Seeds Big Bang Feminised

Genetics:Skunk, Northern Light, El Niño.
Effect: Very known for its medicinal properties, it is sold in the Dutch pharmacies as prescription medicine.
Relaxing and calming effect.

Flowering indoor: 9 weeks will guarantee the full range of cannabinoids. Commercially ready in 8 weeks. Yield up to 800 gr/sqm.
Very good on SOG and ScrOG systems.
Flowering outdoor: Ready at the beginning of October in the Northern hemisphere and in April in the Southern one. Yield up to 1000 gr/plant.
THC: 15.5%
CBD: 1.5%
CBN: 0.4%

Another good option would be the one directly below.

Sagarmatha Seeds Slyder

Almost pure Indica with dense, crystallized buds and a strong aroma. Originally developed from seeds obtained in Afghanistan, crossed with a potent Northern Lights to enable indoor cultivation. This variety is superb for indoor cultivation because of low smell and high yields with punch. She produces a strong lethargic stone.
  • Strain: Mainly Indica
  • Parentage: Northern Lights & Afghan
  • Planting: Indoor / Outdoor
  • Flowering: 55-60 days / mid Sep
  • Yield: 300-325g per sq m (dried, indoor)

He needs a buzz and not a high and a sativa produces a high and an indica produces a buzz.

If he has stress problems or possibly other types of problems and is smoking a sativa or sativa dominant strains then yes it is likely that what he is smoking at least in part causes his panic attacks or at the least increases them in frequency and severity.

An indica stone will calm him and relax him. He does not need a soaring cerebral high, that is most likely at least part of his problem. He doesn’t need something that will make his brain work really fast and feel like it is soaring high above Mt. Everest and that will make his heart race like sativa or sativa dominant strains will. He needs something that will make him chill, that will give him that laid back all is cool relaxing sort of stone.

if he is smokeing dirt and not at least dro yes

That would not make any difference. It is strictly the difference between a sativa high and an indica stone and not how either is grown.

It is genetics, it is the THC/CBD/CBN ratios, it is the difference between a sativa high that is known to increase someone’s heart rate which that alone can set off a panic attack, or if smoked once a panic attack has started will only make it worse, combined with the soaring cerebral high that makes your mind work at a thousand miles per hour asking what the hell is happening to me while panicked or beginning to panic that a sativa gives compared to the mind and body numbing stone of an indica.

Growing in neither dirt or hydro will alter a plants genetic structure which is what determines if it will give you a high or a stone. It all comes down to him smoking the wrong genetics for his mental/psychological/stress condition/situation.

Smoking a sativa or sativa dominant strain, regardless of how it is grown, will be like giving someone having a panic attack speed and smoking an indica or indica dominant strain, regardless of how it is grown, will be like giving someone having a panic attack downers, something like Xanax or Valium etc.

bump! man great topic, I have this same problem.
Historically my wife can not smoke at all due to panic attacks that are caused by the pot. Right now I am growing some "White Rhino" and she has started smoking so much I have trouble producing enough.
